He’s not a master of wind. He may know how to use the element but doesn’t have an affinity for it. That being said he didn’t have more than 3 elements in the 1st Databook.

The hidden in the mist technique is D rank, so we can assume it costs very little chakra. Especially in the right environment (I.e. the land of waves). Considering Kakashi’s Chakra seems tied in some way to his depressive state, he likely knows not to get himself into chakra competitions with other Jonin. Not to mention, blowing away the mist doesn’t deal with Zabuza. Really we should be asking why he didn’t open or close the fight with a Raikiri, which is used in that fashion from then on.

@@fletcherw32 it wasn't tied to his depression tho it was tied with the sharringon that only the uchihas Chakra could truly handle the reason why his Chakra reserves are so low because the eyes take immense amounts of Chakra for non uchihas and the reason why he has more reserves later because he trains and gets more used to the Chakra drain

@@fletcherw32 honestly if he had both eyes he would probably die to Chakra depletion the raikiri also has a flaw he can use it without the sharing on but it's easier to counter and leaves him open so in order to charge it he had to use summoning jutsu to find zabuza and make sure he wasn't going anywhere soon

I think Kabuto is getting to much credit for his actual combat ability. Statements are so so when you compare his actual feats. He knew of tsunade’s fear of blood going into the fight thanks to orochimaru. As soon as she got past this fear he stood no chance. Getting tagged by kid naruto could support this. I don’t see kakashi getting tagged by any genin. When he faced kakashi he did not seem to want the smoke and immediately makes an escape. Not trying to down play his intellect that is definitely his main advantage in this fight. But I think zabuza has the edge in overall combat experience and justu variety. He did think he would be able to assassinate the mizukage who was also the three tails. Kabuto’s offense is a close fight to tag zabuza with his chakra blade which if he lands could totally turn the tide, but Zabuza shows in the first fight with kakashi he doesn’t underestimate his opponents. I think this could go either way and is definitely situational. Either way high diff I am leaning towards zabuza tho

To explain what I think Tsunade did to Kabuto, she either used medical ninjutsu, pure chakra control or lightning style (low ap, high precision) to disrupt the electrical signals between his muscle nerves & the part of his brain in charge of motor control (specifically for his limbs because he didn’t have a cardiac arrest, nor did he suffocate, his facial expressions were working and he could still stay in a straight sitting position). The impact might have also played a part considering she specifically hit him on the cervical spines near near the stem of the brain where the nerves first diverge into different parts of the body (its why people who are injured there become paralyzed, so she basically paralyzed him). I find this interesting because it gives Tsunade a win con against people she can touch, but not outright one shot. It probably requires a high level of knowledge on biology to manually “rewire” your nerves using either hands-free medical ninjutsu or meditation & trial and error (meaning you try to move specific body parts to figure out which nerve signals activate what muscles and make a mental note of it to retrain your brain to recognize the correct neural pathways). If Tsunade had the chance to combo Ay with an attack & then use this jutsu, she could win 6/10 times (considering he can probs tank a few hits before getting knocked down, like a boxer taking heavy punches); all she would need is a way to briefly stun or trap him and a clean & quick but non-powered hit to the back of his neck (no need to waste chakra since the jutsu bypasses ap)

This might be one of the hardest scaling versus. On one hand Zabuza definitely has more experience in battle and Kakashi was a bad match up for him given his versatility in jutsu. On the other hand Kabuto is clearly smarter than Zabuza and is able to destabilize most opponents at least on paper. Give him a bit of prep time and it's a low diff win probably. Really a situational case since the ground conditions can benefit Zabuza if they're fighting in an open field. One thing we must really consider is Kabuto isn't on the same level as Kakashi, they're in the same league that's quite different. I wanna give the edge to Zabuza concerning one thing, he's experienced enough to let himself risk a bad injury in order to hold and kill Kabuto like he did when hoping to decipher Kakashis sharingan. I guess it makes sense with being an assassin in this case.

Kabuto was claimed equal to kakashi by the sanin. But it is more likely that the sanin underestimated kakashi or are comparing him when not using the sharingan. Kakashi had kabuto on the run, who only got away cause he had prep with the body double. kabuto also had trouble with tsunades assistant. Kabuto was also not able to low diff naruto. It’s weird how non consistent kakashis reputation is.

I think it's likely also that Kakashi's strength was pretty apparently retconned. Having Kakashi conveniently say that he was rusty after the first arc, in which Zabuza says that Haku was stronger than him to then have Naruto destroying Haku with the chakra of the Nine Tails. A lot of stuff was somewhat subtly retconned since early Naruto

I wanna say Zabuza, as he has the better combat skills, but Kabuto's intelligence I believe he'll have a way to negate anything Zabuza does. It'll be more of a lengthy battle for Kabuto to figure out the perfect timing to move and then he gets it. Kabuto mid diff IMO

I disagree. Intelligence means very little when you lack the tools to counter attack. Zabuza simply has too many wide-scale, tactical, and support jutsu where Kabuto has, granted, good medical ninjutsu and ninja-scalpel. Kabuto may be able to compete physically but Zabuza has way more tools. AND, BTW, Zabuza was not stupid. Hell, he outmaneuvered Kakashi like 3 times in their first fight and once in their second.

@@ThunderGodTG To be fair, Hidan has 0 jutsu outside his immortality and he still manages to be useful enough to be a part of the Akatsuki. Also aren't Tailed Beasts significantly weaker outside their hosts? Like Deidora managed to one shot the 3 Tails, but struggled a lot more against Gaara w/the 1 tail. Not trying to say Zabuza scales to Deidora, just trying to point out how much weaker a Tailed Beast is without a host. Granted, I don't know if there's anything to scale Zabuza high enough to also be able to brawl with a Tailed Beast, but it doesn't seem implausible to me.

One of your main points for kabuto was that he’s an all around genius capable of handling any situation because he’s just so much smarter than everyone and your example was how he dealt with tsunade and her attacks against him. Him being one of the highest grade medical ninjas in the land was the perfect opponent for a severely handicapped tsunade. You talked about how he’d handle zabuza’s hidden mist simply becuase he’s just too smart. His intelligence mainly lies with Medical (escpecially at this point) while kakashi is one of the most battle hardened ninjas on the planet at this point let alone the leaf village and he had trouble with the mist only until he deciphered that zabuza couldn’t see thru the mist. What actual feat or ability does kabuto have at this point to deal with mist besides being smart? Also jiraiya saying kabuto is on par with kakashi is less relevant since jiraiya isn’t in the village long enough for top level jonin to be able to recognize him so I hardly believe he has an accurate scope of kakashis abilities and orochimaru’s statement doesn’t hold much more weight since anything he says for kabuto at this point is to get him to follow his plans. At this point we see no incredible speed feats from kabuto that put him on par with kakashi or zabuza and seeing as kabuto at this points main weapon was his scalpel hands it’s sage to say that his strength is close quarters combat. To say a few words for zabuza although he’s portrayed much like a thug he gave an incredibly accurate and detailed description of the sharrigan abilities after seeing it once used against him in a high stakes moment…sounds pretty intelligent to me. Intelligent enough to be one of the highest ranking ninja in the mist at that point
