How Keanu Really Feels About John Wick 4's Stunning Ending

Certain loss. Retaliation. The “Book of the Samurai”. After a long wait, fans finally got another glorious look at the Baba Yaga, with the return of Keanu Reeves in the fourth (and possibly final) installment of his blockbuster franchise, "John Wick: Chapter 4." While the film brought us everything we knew we would see, like beautiful set pieces and action sequences in clubs, to enough bullets to overtake a small country, it also brought some surprises. From the destruction of Winston's Continental Hotel to the scene in the final moments that everyone is talking about: the apparent death of John Wick. Now, Reeves has explained that was the plan the moment the movie came about, even saying it was the entire point of the film.

This one has to be my favorite of all 4. I especially loved how they incorporated Japanese culture and sword fighting in the film. Definitely a quadrilogy I'd watch more than once

It has very good action don’t get me wrong. But I personally still think 1 and 2 is the best in my opinion. I think 1 and 2 was a little more realistic in the fight scenes he actually felt hurt and had better writing and character development. But overall JW4 had the most action

I don’t think he’s dead 1- if he still is gonna keep his word to kill the high table then being assumed dead is a major advantage 2- if you noticed at the end his dog perked up at the cemetery looking off into the distance 3- maybe he also faked his death with the hopes he can actually live in peace without anyone looking for him .

My thoughts exactly. Ain’t gonna call it denialism- but a final “fuck you” to the High Table. Man did just enough to honor his dues, save Winston, Reunite Caine, and be free. Being free doesn’t mean giving up life. He collapsed from exhaustion because he finally won his freedom. Heck, talk it up to Chad *and* Reeves being dodgy about his death. The whole “proof of body” trope got broken yet again and from the actor and director themselves it’s neither yes or no. John Wick died so John could live, if it’s anything to take away.

There's just so much story left untold. We never really get a good view of the High Table. The 3rd movie sets us up for an all-out war between the factions and the High Table; however, the 4th gives us, yet again, another minion. It just feels like John got his peace but all the other characters havent got theres

The film was so much more than I anticipated and I already had high hopes. There were so many things that pieced the movie together. It showed how John's thirst for revenge was hurting the people he trusted and valued most around him, with it interlinking with the idea of death. John is the literally embodiment of death, as quoted "everything he touches dies" and the only way he can truly be at peace "is in death". The movie was littered with hints to the fantastic finale and his spectacular end. It was a perfect film, accompanied by a perfect ending. However, I truly do not think John is physically dead, I think the "idea of John Wick" is dead, but John lives on. There is no body, there is ambiguity and also plenty of hints he still lives on. Most of the characters refer to him as a 'ghost' throughout the film, now he has a chance to take the title to another level. I expect there to be a break between now and John Wick 5, considering all the spin-off's and prequel's, but I believe he will return. Resurrected, not as the Baba Yaga, but someone entirely new.

The filmmakers should've just ended the series on a cliffhanger, like Daniel Craig's character at the end of Layer Cake or Ryan Gosling's character at the end of Drive. It didn't make any sense for John Wick to go through all that just to sacrifice himself, especially when JW didn't have any personal vendetta against the Antagonist. The movie made it clear several times, that the high table would simply replace him with another. In the end, JW was fighting for his freedom, only to end up dead 🤔

Such as Aurelio his mechanic, Cassian from JW2, the two Shinobi from JW3. They still haven’t showed up. Maybe saved for John Wick 5 if they plan on to bringing them back for a proper ending. I am 💯 percent certain John Wick is not dead, just the way how his "death" scene was shot where the camera is at a distance instead of a closeup and how it doesn't linger on longer to see the life leave his body. My theory is the franchise is going into John Wick legacy spinoff territory where it focuses on his associates dealing with the aftermath. Maybe in 5 years time, they'll hire Neil Patrick Harris to resurrect Keanu.

I loved the action segments. But the rest was so long. A lot of it explaining of things just added to this movie (making it just under 3 hours). Liked the cameos. The Lance Reddick scene definitely hit different. Not my favorite in the series but still good and enjoyable.
