Love the way they took such an iconic evil-associated design and flipped it on its head

You say that, and yet, I actually NEVER associated it with Evil, and I'm blown away that even _Lucas_ had intended that connection to be there... Because I always loved those due to the fact that looked like an obvious predecessor to the *A-Wing!* 😞 Take the two big hyperspace capable engines off the hyperspace docking ring and slap them on it, add vertical stabilizers, and it's basically an A-Wing already! But, I guess the only obvious thing here, was how wrong I was about it 😭

The paralel with the Imperial Star Destroyer's triangular shape and the Jedi Star Fighter was totally lost on me. The old Naboo figher is such a different design but I thought the jedi fighter was closer to that in design since it belongs to the good guys . But now I totally see it.

It’s a really cool bastardisation of the Jedi design by the Sith. Such a spit in the face it was a genius call by the designers

This was why I always liked both the OT and the prequels *EVERY* film had a new set of ships not seen before whereas as Disney mainly just took pre-existing craft and made them bigger or made some minor changes

That's the case for episode 7, but I think with the U Wing from Rogue One, Djinn's first ship the Razor Crest, and the Skeleton Crew's ship, they've done a great job expanding on the same aesthetic base

I know what you mean about the sequel trilogy, lots of adapted original designs - made worse in my personal opinion.

Spot on they have made some great new ships outside of the prequel trilogy. The way the razor crest keeps to the pre-imperial 50’s space ship aesthetic of the prequels is awesome and the U-wing needs more screen time now

Well, kenobi from the Clone Wars mostly travels on a destroyer so.

True but I think he has his starfighter with him on board 😊

@order66collectibles yes but doesn't get used too much. If I remember correctly. But I'm not always right, so haha.

@@paulb3151obi has mentioned that droids should be flying as if he hated it so there's that lol

1 thing that doesn't make sense about those ships, is that the droids bottom half would be poking out the bottom

True, in Star Wars: The Clone Wars they redesigned it by putting the droid in the middle where it makes a bit more sense.
