My dad prays the rosary everyday because I started doing it myself and Gods graces have bestowed upon me like never before on that and he goes to mass every day too. Having children is the hardest and the most rewarding thing you will ever do. It’s not for the faint of heart. But, if you can summon the courage, you won’t regret it. I misheard the starting blurb. I thought Bobby's "scandiavian" remark was about his _blonde_ wife. Otherwise: When my wife & I married, I was atheist, she was "nominal Muslim." Afterward, she found Jesus, and she brought me back. I have to say that being married in Christ, and raising children with Christ, is the _only way_ to go. Hey Ascension - is there anyway we could get a whole series on this theme of your kids will make you holy? Maybe one is about the parents of saints and saints who were parents. Another on praying with your kids. When it's okay to fail because they have free will, raising someone who might be/is called to holy orders, etc. Possibly rotating between hosts? I feel like most of us parents struggle with this. Please and thank you.

#AskAscension Thank you for always bringing the light and truth of our Lord in your videos! My question is...how do you know it's a good time to start pursuing a relationship for marriage? Is there a "time" in singleness where you are supposed to know? Thanks!
@johnclark13713 жыл бұрын
I’m no expert, but have been happily married for 38 years. I think finding and sustaining relationships require an open heart that allows us to be vulnerable. I think the timing will take care of itself if you leave yourself open to a committed relationship. Relying on your faith to guide you and not fearing the opening of your heart to a person that you love is key. Don’t force it. God has a plan for you, cooperate in faith, hope and love with that plan.

How do you pray when you have small kids to care for?
@iancavon71253 жыл бұрын
There are lots of awful, even abusive parents. Either you are a good person or you are not; making babies doesn't alter that. Kids don't make you "holy" (if you aren't already), they just make you....parents. And let's face it: In some cases they're even the reason, or at least one of the reasons, for the parents' marriage to ultimately fail. I know couples who, although they of course love their children, have become quite unhappy due to the manifold demands of family life. Truth is, not really ALL people are called to parenthood, and many only realize that they're not when it's already too late. This is something we very rarely talk about frankly, especially in Catholic circles.

These are my scariest fears..I sometimes feel I really wasn't meant to have kids with my husband..I can tell he doesn't really want it...I don't even think I do, but then I feel that God wants me to 😔 we've been together since we were 17..20 (15 of marriage) years later: we really are still in love and I'm so scared of losing that.. he's my best friend.. this entire decision is so hard to make.. I'm going to speak to a priest about it soon.. I'm now 37.. so I need to make a decision pretty soon. My mom says things similar to you bc she raised 7 kids and they grew up and ignore her.. over her political beliefs.. horrible! I'm the youngest and do everything for her..uhh, I really need prayers .. biggest decision of my life..I do want to stay happy

how about also giving some praise for those who choose not to have kids. Childfree people (not just nuns and those leading religious lives, I mean ordinary ppl) also know parenthood isn't always easy and are still capable of being holy.
@fredg51093 жыл бұрын
depends why you choose not to have kids. if you choose to devote yourself to God as a single person so you can better serve your neighbour, or to devote yourself to God as a parent so you can better serve your immediate family, fair enough. If you choose never to have children out of wanting to enjoy life for yourself alone or because of family-caused trauma, that's not to be celebrated.

Many excellent points. However, i believe that God is sovereign. I think it is a great burden to put on ourselves if we think that we are responsible for getting our kids to heaven. It is God's job ultimately. Sure, it is wise to marry a Christian, but it is the ideal, not the real situation in many families. Indeed it is a blessing to be brought up in a Christian home, but by no means the only way to have an encounter with Jesus Christ and be saved. Thoughts?
