I love Kings of Leons' high pitched chords in other songs, its so quintessential 2000s indie post-punk revival. So perfectly moody and exciting/danceable at the same time.

Nathan's mastery of stumbling into the melody, using the "dotted kick-and-snare pattern" seems to be Nathan's signature move. I think it's stunning what he can evoke from a drum kit. I've struggled to describe his use of bursts of melodic drumming. This description comes as close as I've heard. All of the members of KOL deserve the utmost respect.

I've watched their show in 2019 on Brazil's lollapalooza. The show was great, but it was so "rainy" and Interlagos was so full of mud that, cause I was sitting on a hill to watch the show with my cousin, I feel down and ended up hitting an random lady that was missing the action cause of her phone. That "I'd like to punch the people who are using cellphones in concerts" phrase it's something I can relate more than I would like. Saw the notification and instantly remembered that show, I'll be sending this video to my cousin Igor to share your amazing content Lie, thank you.

By far and away the most influential band in terms of influencing me as a player. (drums, guitar bass) Yeah I know most of their stuff is just pentatonic scale, but it's not about that. Its about having every layer of the band play a large role in creating the sound, or idea, they want a a whole.

Another great video!! Would you be keen to do a series where you dive deep into the guitar theory behind Josh Homme of QOTSA? I know you did a video on them previously. You should check out Guitar Moves Josh Homme and Matt Sweeney I think you'll find exactly what your looking for. Hey, while I'm talking to another QOTSA fan, I'd just like to know what your favorite QOTSA album is, what lineup is the best, and what Josh Homme side project you get into thw most.
@LieLikesMusic3 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Yes i'll definitely make another video on Qotsa and Josh. Can't get enough of that. To answer Jovan's question, i think i'll have to pick the obvious answer and say the 2002 line up.
@jovanreid67823 жыл бұрын
@@LieLikesMusic Hey what's up, man!!! Yeah that was a really great lineup, for sure- but I think Dave Ghrol's entry in the band did well to overshadow the awesome lineup that preceded with Nick Lucero on 🥁 circa 2000. To me, the shows from a this time were epic, super tight, yet still kinda loose, and a little bit more raw than the 2002 lineup, therefore I like the 2000 lineup just a wee bit better. Anyways, love the channel and everything you've done, esp on Josh Homme, John Frusciante, The Mars Volta, and Tool. A video on TV on the Radio would be interesting, just to put that out there. Keep up the good work.

It's easy to become very knowledgeable of music and break down every little detail about a song someone else created. This is a good example of the difference between analytical and creative skills. Probably why people spend way too much time analyzing and critiquing popular music instead of trying to create something original
@JeffintheD3 жыл бұрын
I admit, I was really hoping you would explore how KoL wrote their riffs generally and not just do a breakdown of one song. But this breakdown was really good. I would love it if you could devote some more time to their other tracks and how they evolved from a three chord adrenaline rock band to a more complex (and at times much more simple) sound. Or just anything at all with Kings of Leon.
