For John I would get an Explorer Bass with wire strings, however, it depends what particular Pete sound you want. For the early stuff there's a lot of 12 string but for the Tommy era he used an SG with P90s and then a les Paul from who's next onwards. He uses a strat now

Kendoji1 Tony Iommi doesn't use Gibsons. Most of the time he plays his Jaydee oldboys, even though he has a signature Gibson which is no longer being produced, and an epiphone more recently. Also people do comment on how Gibson guitars' quality has dropped the alst 3-4 years, and personally I Watch this series to learn stuff. They could demonstrate something that sounds similar or at least close to Tony's sound.

Not so much, actually - he's had his signature Suhr for several years (with something like a Badger amp or a Cornford), and now his signature Charvel (and Victory amp). The gear he used with Steven Wilson was more dictated by SW, so for Guthrie's actual own rig, you'd need to look at The Aristocrats, i'd think.

Hey guys, guitar noob here.. I was wondering on how should I arrange pedals in a rig? Also why do some amps have an effects loop, and what kind of pedals are usually used in the loop?

Love these videos. You guys are doing an awesome job and are fun to watch. What I'd love to see added would be a quick view of the amp settings, and (like today) see the pedal settings. It would be fun to also see you briefly discuss how you dialed that in, or what you thought you would need to set everything at and what you actually arrived at and why it was different. Help the rest of us dial in the sounds we hear. Also would love to hear Marc Ford (from sometimes salvation). Last request-how about an episode or two on you each picking your favorite $1500 rig to play many styles /be versatile (i.e. If I was in a rock cover band playing some current tunes, classic rock, and some blues, or whatever.) Keep up the great work!

A couple of things... 1. The es-325 was actually a fully hollow guitar. 2. The es-137 is a simi-hollow guitar. You would have been closer had the two of y'all switched guitars, IMO. Also why use an external reverb pedal when the Blues Jr. has a reverb tank that I would assume sounds better than any pedal, no matter how crappy the reverb unit on the amp was.

Couple of questions: firstly, why did you not consider Gretsch Electromatic Series for the semi and hollowbody? Or some Hofner or Ibanez? It seems you always tend to go straight to Epiphone. Secondly, in Caleb's rig, could you just use the boost side of the fulltone full drive insted of the mxr microamp? You could have saved some money for, say, a delay...
