Phil doesn’t get enough credit for the little things he did as a coach. He knew the type of person Kobe was and that would motivate him to train even harder 🤣 he knew his players well and what buttons to press. I remember Shaq saying his MVP season was because he was the best shape in his life because Phil told how much of a better athlete Wilt was and how much more Stamina he had

He didn't just say that.He said MJ was more patient/disciplined with his shot selection.He hardly ever took a bad shot.Which is why MJ was more efficient.There would be times where Kobe could get a little wild with his shot selection.MJ also had phenomenal athleticism.Kobe had very good athleticism.Not at MJ's level.

@@centurionwilliams8765 Firstly 30-50 is a stretch. Secondly if you’re top 50 at something in NBA history you’re elite. And third, athleticism isn’t simply explosiveness. Also I’m talking about how he used it, because that’s what matters. Kobe was able to actually use his athleticism and was doing the craziest dunks, had ridiculous body manipulation, had one of the best first steps, even did some alley oops (layups too) that very few players can do today. Some of the players you’re thinking of weren’t able to fully utilize their athleticism and you’re just talking about their capacity, not what they did on a regular basis. I clearly said he wasn’t MJ level, but go and watch a mixtape or some of his highlights from the 2000s and come back to me.

Kobe definitely knew what Phil Jackson said was true. MJ had catchers mitts for hands, that’s a serious advantage in the game of basketball. It was like Michaels body was almost like it was created in a lab to create the ultimate shooting guard.

I keep saying it what saved Micheal was playing baseball, real athletes know the best athletes come from multi-sport athletes mostly baseball. Deion, Bo Jackson, Patrick mahomes, Kyler Murray, Russell Wilson, even Tom Brady. If Kobe played other sports growing up a would've gave him an another level he could take it too.

@@seddyb2197 Yeah that gave Kobe & Hakeem their incredible footwork but them growing up outside of America at that time didn't allow them to really play other sports. Look at the late 80s to the early 90s, America was dominant & had the best athletes in almost every sport because of the culture. Kobe & Hakeem would of been super athletes had they grew up in America💯

Kobe was a perfectionist at his sport but playing other sports will give you better body control & feel for the game. Kobe kinda forced the game to come to him because he wanted it so bad, he truly was the epitome of hard work & perfecting one sport.
