A lot of people who worked at BuzzFeed make videos after they leave saying BuzzFeed takes advantage of their employees and it's not a good place to work. Their model is to bring on young creative minds, overwork them and drain them dry of ideas, then pressure them to either take on more responsibility or quit. It sounds like a scummy buisness and i encourage everyone to look into this if you're considering applying for a job.
@tpamel6 жыл бұрын
Offlineable welcome to being a video producer in capitalism. Sounds expected of a company like buzzfeed to do that. Scientists at a pharmaceutical company experience the same quandary when it comes to their inventions (medicines). *The part that actually sucks actually is that employees lose their patent/trademark/copyright RIGHTS when they create under a company.* It's not like freddie and kristin were in the position to NEGOTIATE _shared ownership and rights of & shared profit royalties from their content on their employment contract_ when they were hired. Meaning, buzzfeed takes advantage of the vulnerable. Watch gothic sapphire's (I can't spell Safiyya's name) video and the video with 2 white women about why they left buzzfeed to get the gist.

I would love to hear how the rest of the Lady Like team got hired bc this is exactly what I was thinking. Kristin got in due to a friend despite having no prior media experience and Freddie, despite other friends and experience still had to prove herself to multiple networks. It’s incredibly disappointing for LA’s business world (supposed to be so much more inclusive, diverse, and progressive).

It is all about determination and sometimes leaving your comfort zones. I know that 5 years ago living in my country of Australia I was comfortable, but not happy with my work and wanted to take a leap for once. I did it back in 2011 by jumping on the first plane I've ever flown with all by my lonesome and arrived in London. So jumping 4 years after that I decided to MOVE countries- lots of stress, money and emotions but I'm 5 years in and I'm loving it and loving my job :)I want to also say this was something no one or even myself thought I would do.

I want to work at buzzfeed so badly. I have trouble getting a job because I have high functioning autism and buzzfeed is my dream job. My job coach emailed buzzfeed but no one responded. I’m hoping to apply to an internship despite the fact I’m not in college but I don’t know how to do that. I live in New York City.
@LaurenMca6 жыл бұрын
Hink the reason I mention that is because in the brochure I got at job training it says 80-90% of adults with autism are unemployed. It’s making it difficult for me to interview and get a job. There are many companies that have a specific interview process made for people with autism where you can show your abilities (Microsoft, SAP, Walgreens, just to name a few), but to my knowledge buzzfeed does not. I think if they did they could find some really great employees who wouldn’t have gotten hired the traditional way.
