The sickness is the system, as Richard Wolff says.

This is what defunding social programs looks like, while hundreds of millions of dollars get pumped into policing in every district in the country. Look up your city budget and see how much is going into policing vs., senior in-home care, emergency rental assistance, or food stamps. Cities and states depend on this federal money, and when they don't get it (because its been whittled down to nothing of real impact), citizens become desperate, then incompetent officials hit the "easy" button of overpolicing.

Someone is actually developing an ETF that tracks House and Senate stock trades. Big brain idea, right there.

The system isn't broken. This is how it's been designed to function. The system itself is the problem.

Well done. It's indeed perfectly correct to assume that even progressive lawmakers will respond to incentives diametrically opposed to the progressive agenda, and that it's ridiculous to expect politicians not to act predictably in obvious self-service despite being called public servants. One check on them could be a growing middle class with influence of its own and solidarity toward the poor. But the middle class is shrinking fast.

Oh, and THEY'RE JUDGES! I bet you could find at least one quote of each of then informing a defendant that "ignorance of the law isn't an excuse (against breaking it)" The law is actually written such that they MUST avoid even the APPEARANCE of impropriety!

" They are personally invested in profitable corporations." The corporations want to maximize their profits. When profits are prioritized first, last, and always, people perennially suffer. Yep! Voila! OF COURSE! This is the final " missing" puzzle piece. Frankly, because it was actually a step in the right direction towards the common shared concerns of the people united to form a more perfect union, BUILD BACK BETTER always felt like it was being held back, i.e., intentionally allowed to fail epically. What little may eventually be passed will hasten the dissolution of the American Experiment in Democracy. My thing is living in a fascist theocracy was NEVER THE ANSWER.

Why is AK a regular on Jacobin? She is a liberal, not a radical. So why?
@nebuler13 жыл бұрын
So you disagree with her reporting? Please explain.
@numbersix89193 жыл бұрын
@@nebuler1 That's not the problem. Any liberal can sympathize with systemic problems, that's Job #2. Job #1 is preventing systemic change. Job #2 exists to hide Job #1. So I naturally wonder: what is going on at Jacobin?
