Great video. Finally shows the underrated side of adaptability. People forget that the league transitioned quickly and some stars became obsolete because they were slow to or was not able to adapt. Dwight Howard, Rondo, to an extent Wade, Melo, and Rose. Lebron transitioned well into the 3 point shooting era.

Fun fact is that LeBron with his dominant drives and excellent court vision generates a lot of good 3pt shots on the kick out so even if he didn't shoot a lot of 3's, his teams excel at that through his carreer (his current non-shooting teammates and his first Cleveland run are an exception to this).

@Ryan Kayombya definitely Russ, I think throughout his career he wouldn't be as successful as he is if he didn't have the ball so much. He's never been an efficient scorer and is a turnover machine. Can he score? Yes but it takes Russ 30 shots to score 30 points. Scott Brooks was just in awe of his speed and athletic abilities but failed to use him properly as he isn't a true point. The should've paid Harden, he was their playmaker and just let Russ be more slasher like a Dwade.

Rose is not a good example, after he lost his athleticism he actually started to develop somewhat of a jumpshot in 2016-17. I remember in a interview when he was on the wolves or pistons, he said that he would be out of the league if he wasn’t shooting a better clip from 3, and he adapted and succeeded.

Greatness personified! Kareem and Wilt were the kings of efficiency, exploiting their height to rule the paint, but were very lacking beyond that. Malone was powerful and luckily played with 1 selfless HOF PG who excelled at feeding him the rock optimally for almost his entire career, but also limited in his catalog of skills. Jordan was about individual dominance through his athleticism and will to win, heralding the age of the 2-guard and influencing generations to incorporate those elements into all positions. And Kobe was a Jordan clone with a chip on his shoulder. But LeBron is a freak of nature with arguably thee largest repertoire of skills and moves we've ever seen in 1 player; a jack of all trades and master of some, capable of scoring from anywhere on the court in any way possible, with a team-first mindset, no ego, and a laser focus on preparing his mind and body to win. Personally, I'm not sure we'll see another player as physically gifted as him who can then build upon those gifts for so long while avoiding drama, scandals and major injuries.

I think Kareem said he was coached not to shoot 3s or from deep and it is one of the things he wished he was allowed to do during his career. To the point where I think he had 9x3pt attempts in his whole career. There is a video of him scoring one on youtube somewhere. Looked good. What LeBron has done has been impressive.

The media has made you believe that because they labeled him pass first must somehow mean the scoring threat from him lessened and that was never the case at all. Lebron has always been consistently scoring more than Kobe, even though Kobe is thought of being the better scorer, despite lower shooting percentages and lower average points. Lebron started plugged so many holes in his game throughout the years. Despite losing athleticism bit by bit each year, he's managed to keep scoring in different ways. Many people did assume he would eventually pass Kareem, but it would be like on his last legs. Haters would say he still playing while being slow and old just to get that stat line. Well he's averaging 30 a game still, so he ain't old and slow yet.

I disagree with Coach Nick's statement that it may take nearly 80 years for Lebron's scoring record to be broken. If you watch how these modern day superstars are consistently putting up insane point totals on high volume 3pt shots, I think this record will be broken within the next generation or two.

Lebron isn't close to being the best player in the league. His team isn't even positioned to make the play in games. The last two seasons has been nothing but stat padding. The 3 point shot, pacing of games, and emphasis on free flowing offenses absolutely gives someone a chance to break his record, especially if they play as long as Lebron did.

To add context, Jordan said to make Lebron stop going right, while Kobe said to make him stop from going to the left, something Lebron himself agrees with. Kawhi said to stay in front of him and let the team take care of the rest, while Pierce and Draymond mentioned to do your best by keeping him guessing and making him uncomfortable which are extremely tall orders. Triple threats were the most effective way to defend him with the caveat that he had poor scoring teammates (Lakers without AD, the early 1st stint Cavs and late 2nd Cavs stint).

LeBron is the same size as Karl Malone with his post up ability, but as fast as Allen Iverson with the Athletic Ability of Dominique, then on top of all that LeBron have the basketball I.Q and height of Magic. Which is the main reason LeBron can play until he's 45 Years Old if not seriously injured because LeBron can move right over to Point Full Time and still have more speed and Athletic ability than Magic with Magic Basketball I.Q. I think it's the multi-tool problem, surely you can do a lot more things with it than with a knife, spoon, scissors, etc. but it'll be less efficient than any of them individually. Case in point, when Lebron led the league in assists/game his assists-TO ratio was that of a typical PG (about 2.5 or a bit more, >3 is considered very good) but when he's been the primary scorer that ratio isn't that good as he's passing when drriving to the basket or with time running out.

I get that he can still be a force of nature during fastbreaks and open lanes. But does he have stamina to do that and run back to defend? Would he get that much space down at the paint during the PO for a layup or a dunk? It would have been a huge advantage for 39-year-old LBJ if he had his post-up game. With his vision and passing skills, plus his power, it makes a lot of sense to focus on developing the skill set, as you are getting older. He could have learned from the greats like MJ and Kobe how they acquired post-up skills in the latter stages of their careers.

Not trying to take away from James, but one major reason for his breaking of the record is the explosion in popularity and usage of the 3-point shot. Kareem only made 1 three pointer in his entire career. 1. LeBron has 2,237 3-point shots. Turn those all into 2-point shots and he's roughly 1,500 points away from Kareem's record. Potentially feasible depending on how long he stays in the league. But yeah. That's LeBron's record breaking X factor right now.

Didn't Alcindor have a lot of putback situations and real up close shots where he didn't have to take even a step to make the basket? Or are you convinced that he shot most of them Skyhooks because he didn't. Also when he came to the league he had the most underrated player in history give him the ball on 70% of all possessions, Oscar was so incredibly good that it took Jordan his 13th season to score more points and Michael was the arroggance personified, me, me, me, me, and then long time nothing and then I shoot the ball, now I'm not saying Oscar didn't attempt a lot of them baseline pull ups as well but he did grab a lot more rebounds and dished quiet more frequently than Mike. Now back to Lew who was now Kareem he got guess what? The best play maker of all time being drafted by the Lakers. Only when it comes to Malone do people bring up yeah he scored so much because he had a great point guard in Stockton, probably it annoys Jordanites that he scored 4k more points or something, so that when Kareem is brought up it is not mentioned as much and Lebron was the point guard so he brought the ball up for himself and still has 10k assists. Why are people bringing up 3 point shots to diminish Lebron's? I mean hitting long range shots IS A SKILL. Not anyone can do it. If anything that makes it more impressive because he didn't stagnate, but evolved his game over time.
