the fact that cloudy was able to achieve gm with no shield on rein is insane but what really puts the cherry on top is that he did it during hard hog meta. cloudy is such an absolute beast.

I picked up rein season 3 of OW 1 and have slowly improved from low silver to high diamond/low masters. Hearing the term "dive Reinhardt" after all this time really just puts a big smile in my heart :) I knew my silver gameplay was really truly peak performance

This guide is great, I'm top 500 with rein but I never knew how to adapt my playstyle depending on the supports in a rein mirror. There are two things that I miss in this guide though: 1. How to play against a comp with a lot of (vertical) mobility. As going for the backline is not really possible. Example comp: doom, tracer, pharah, mercy, kiriko. Solution: Playing this incorrectly usually ends up in a 4v5 as Rein will just swing in open air. But if you go to point, you essentially force at least one of the enemy players to contest and fight you on close range. Making it a 5v5 again. Cloudy talks about this in one of his own guides: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m5urhJiKmb6FnpI (6:50) 2. How to play against a comp of mid/long range spam heroes combined with a poke-brawl tank like Orisa and Ramattra. As getting close to these comps costs an incredible amount of recourses and when you are able to get close there is an almost impossible to kill tank waiting for you. Example comp: Orisa, Torb/Junk/Hanzo/(some hitscans), Zenyatta, Baptiste. Solution: On defence its quite doable, just let the enemy come close, but on attack I don't really know tbh. The basic advice would be to use as much natural cover as possible to get close. But even when you do, the team probably rotates and you still have to cover a big distance consisting of open map. Does anyone have tips? Really having trouble with this one.

Most maps usually have pathing which consists of shorter sightlines (e.g. Nepal Shrine, going though the building). In these situations, having a Lucio or Symmetra to speed up your rotation will allow you to close the gap whilst taking minimal poke damage. A mei would also be useful as she can wall off the enemy spam temporarily to help you rotate. You can also use your shield to help you team rotate to the next corner, and then let it regen before properly engaging, it's a bit like some kind of trench warfare. This works much better in coordinated team play however, and you will rarely be able to pull this off in ranked. Another approach is to have a poke comp of your own (e.g. Zenyatta, Baptiste, Hanzo, etc.) and hope that they are better at getting picks or forcing resources than the enemy dps/supports are. You can aid them by clearing strong positions like highgrounds and shielding them a bit, then you can move in once you have an advantage. This works much better in ranked when you have a bunch of randos that don't talk in VC. If the enemy keep kiting you, then that's fine since eventually you will take point control away from them and they will be forced to come to you.

Low GM rein player, it comes down to your back line in my experience. They’re INCREDIBLY hard to win and it usually comes down to my teams “brawl” comp vs them. If one of your DPS is playing against the “brawl” then you lose a lot of fights. If you find a strategy to get it less RNG dependent then LMK🎉

@@UnlimitedOW Theoretically, you take certain pathings that reduce the sightlines, don't even try to damage them from a distance depending on your comp. Lucio really helps here, but even then, your best shot is just to try to brawl it out (nepal shrine is a really good example of unorthodox pathing you can take to make sure you fight full resources vs full resources)

The thing with the rein mirror that confuses me: if you're walking on their backline, firstly the other rein won't let you and also the rest will just shoot you while you're wasting resources, no? Or is it rather about the awareness to look for opportunities instead of just walking on them? Similar to looking for damage opportunities on support as opposed to healbotting?

What happens if u are in there backline and there whole team looks at u? If rein stays pushed up then u can't get healed and your dps have a harder time finding angles. If he turns around to pin u, your team is literally at the shooting range

really interesting how he says not to chase doom and base race to kill the enemy backline. i can definitely see this not working in my rank (bronze). my supports would either die or heal my dps instead of me. its not that intuitive to keep pushing forward with someone in your backline

It would work. Trust me. If you are all bronze, so is their Doom...and he doesn't do high enough damage to kill 4, especially if you zone out his 4 by existing and give your whole team all that space to maneuver around him. What probably happens is Doom either dies, or he gets no kills and has to use cooldowns to get out at which point you have the map control. You do more damage than he does, so it's likely you can kill 2 and he may kill 1 or none. It really is that easy. Climbed from Gold 3 to Diamond 1 on Rein by not worrying about peeling for my backline, it's just a switch you have to flip and trust the process.

"this wont work in *insert rank here*" is the biggest copium ever i dont understand why people say this you realize that all of the enemies are ALSO in bronze too right? the doomfist isnt gonna be hitting massive slams and empowered punches like a diamond+ doom would. also if you think your supports dont heal you enough, youre probably just not shielding enough. supports should have a balance of damage and healing, you standing in front of the enemy team with no cover doesnt help that. even standing around a corner from the enemy team as rein will effectively zone them since they know theyre gonna be eating a pin as soon as they round the corner. stats are not the end all be all of winning in ANY objective based game, zoning and area denial are arguably more important. a rein thats standing around a corner doing zero damage will have more impact than a rein who walks forwards, does a shit ton of damage, and then dies immediately.
