@TheFreshTrumpet Жыл бұрын
The NFL made a league rule a few years back that every team is required to have a team psychologist on staff available 24/7 for athletes to meet with or emergency-contact. I absolutely see a future in where a string of former child actor tragedies happen and spark similar change, possibly even government regulated if there aren’t already such resources demanded. the psychology of a child celebrity and all the unique challenges they face, it’s just too much to expect individual families to monitor and manage, money doesn’t always fix ignorance of psychoeducation/knowing the warning signs/knowing who to seek help from. the industry has to take responsibility for how the kids are impacted by the business and publicity they’re being allowed to endure
@gingerbihhh Жыл бұрын
@@TheFreshTrumpet I would love this, because so far all kids have is financial safety to a point. We have made stride in protecting the money kids make but when all that money goes to drugs as soon as they are of age to party, what was the point?

@@gingerbihhhNot to mention, how many kids aren’t in full control of their finances and lose em to shitty parents.

@@thepretentiousgentleman absolutely. I know weve put some laws and regulations to try and stop that but truly no studio knows whats going on behind closed doors. I actually *really* needed the Ned's Declassified Adult Guide. I still feel like a lost teen in my 30s, not used to living alone, depressed as fuck, and now living through my first close-family loss an ocean away from my family. I feel so alone, but hearing others' stories and encouragement, knowing so many people pull themselves together in unflattering, long-winded ways is grounding.

Daniel's experience reminds me of my experience with orthorexia. It's different from anorexia in the sense that anorexia reduces food intake but orthorexia tries to "purify" foods and can lead to thinking that certain foods are "tainted" or "harmful", which naturally leads to reducing more and more because there's always a con to too much anything. But with that line of thinking of trying to purify and purge bad things in the body, orthorexic behavior also projects it externally heavily onto environmental or humanitarian issues- to the point of detriment. Guilt and a call to action is replaced with urgency, the magnitude of the problems of the world add to the sense of urgency, that urgency becomes fervency and overloads the system and then causes manic behaviors from nutrient deprivation, and that nutrient deprivation makes it hard to get adequate sleep which exacerbates the whole thing. A lot of people with orthorexia will display perfectionistic behaviors and have anxiety prior to developing it. I went through that episode 15 years ago, and although I'm bipolar and have had similar manic episodes since, that episode triggered by malnutrition was unlike any other psychosis or mania I've experienced before. I was one of the crazy ones y'all wanted to get away from hahah. At one point in the psych ward, I went to the front desk and told them they could stop controlling the weather now bc I know it was them doing the lightning outside my window 😂 I also thought the psychiatrist was trying to kill me and told him he should just do it already. Point being, I don't think most people would know by looking at me that I've ever had an episode like that, but talking about it is so important for that reason. There's an area of the brain responsible for seeking out and interpreting existential and spiritual infomation- that area can just get overstimulated because of x, y, z. We are a just a cluster of cells and neural pathways and signals. It's not a moral failure. Just a lil loop dee loop in the brain :)
