The system that Ten Hag is trying to play is so risky, unless everything goes perfectly, they going to get caught out so many times. I enjoy it and hope you keep him a long time. But that is as a Liverpool fan. Most good managers can at least get somewhat of a working system even if they don't have all the players they would want. And if they don't have the players they prefer then they adjust and tweak it to fit the players they have.

Problem is Utd have a very undisciplined midfield and it starts with their 10 in Bruno who doesn’t provide proper outlets for the role that ETH wants Mainoo to be. Casemeiro should be protected far more. Plus offensively it is pretty dire right now. Rashford man… what’s he doing ? The forwards have no cohesion w/ the midfield. It’s just the offense is so much about moments rather than build up & rhythm.

to be honest, when liverpool were 1-0 at old trafford last season in the FA cup we were dominating, the crowd was dead and it looked like we would 100% see the game out, then united scored and the crowd transformed and they ended up winning. I can’t remember what minute it was but i think it was the 55th minute when united had a half chance and i thought for a second, if that went in i could see us drawing or losing just cus of the atmosphere. There was a similar scenario in 22/23 where liverpool were 1-0 down to arsenal then xhaka squared up to trent, the crowd got up, we scored then we could’ve scored 2/3 in the last 20 minutes. I don’t think it’s fair to say “united didn’t look like coming back at 2-0” cus whilst it’s true, we all know if they got one with 30 to go the crowd would get proper up for it

With regards to Casemiro taking on that pass and holding on to the ball with the second goal - in both situations he is completely stranded and bereft of passing options. The full backs and midfielder were too high, the liverpool press took away back passes and encouraged the long ball. Has to be the manages fault to an extent. Casemiro is not the sort of player to work his was through that situation. He would be better in the centre of a 3, but Bruno doesn't have the discipline to work as a cm in a 3.

Gravenberch and MacAllister are both playing as double 6s, with Ryan allowed to run forward and alexis the more defensive one. If you watched the game closely you saw Alexis actually coach Gravenburch through the game to tell him to be more disciplined. Casemiro is playing as the lone 6, who is also being tasked with being the deep lying playmaker. Both Kobbie and Casemiro cost us goals in that game playing the 6 position, not just because they were there on their own, but also because the fullbacks were high up the pitch somewhere. After the game Bruno defended both of them because thats the suicidal way the manager wants them to play.
