Mbappe is just a bad tactical fit for Real Madrid and it's hurting his confidence. Real Madrid needed a #9 to let Rodrygo, Vini Jr., and Bellingham play off of and go nuts, and they have two phenomenal prospects in Endrick and Arda. But now Mbappe is forced into that XI and you can see how little of a #9 he truly is. Henry broke it down best last time, Bellingham has to make attacking runs all the time from way deeper than last season because Mbappe just doesn't challenge the back line. Combine the above with Madrid's injury-ravaged backline and not effectively replacing Kroos, and you have a recipe for disaster.

I don't watch a lot of Mbappe, but I've always wondered: why can't he be a good #9 ? Surely as a striker he could just make runs in behind with his searing pace and not have to worry about build-up play or having to cover the opposition's FB ?

@stevendchu you would think so, yeah. But Mbappe just doesn't make said runs ever. He instead usually plays off of players who do pressure the opposing CBs and take chances from there with the created space. Mbappe needs to change his playstyle if he's gonna be a good #9 for Madrid.

@@stevendchu idk but I think he really likes the ball to his feet so he can run at defenders instead. A simple comparison would be haaland right. Haaland is perfectly fine with not having the ball to his feet but I think mbappe almost always wants it to his feet. Even during counters (at least only for liverpool games, I dont watch mbappe alot as well), he got the ball on his feet around the halfway line before he got utterly destroyed by bradley. and if we were to compare mbappe to kane, who likes to drop deep and receive balls at the centre of the park, kane can hold up and pass and set up his wingers etc but mbappe just doesnt have that kind of ability? I think that's what I can say from my limited knowledge of watching mbappe and FM hahahahaha

In my opinion they are as good as their results show, but more than a tactically brilliant unit, they are a team with great quality throughout the field that is maximized by a coach who knows how to take advantage of it, and also knows how to adjust to the situation with small adjustments. game by game, also don't know that on their right wing there was space to exploit that was not used by Guler or Brahim who always preferred to use the pass to the center instead of trying to pass into the space behind Robertson or go for the one against one

Real's attack was completely shut down, they didn't do anything, they looked lost. I do think that the defense and midfield was good, but the attack was just bad. I see some people blaming Ancelotti, it isn't Carlo's fault, he made good substitutions and real won a pen right after but too bad that the french rashford missed it. Playing without Vini and Rodrygo is showing weakness in the attack, i do think mbappe should be benched for some games when vini and rodrygo come back.

We are entering a crunch time at this juncture. And will be out till at least after January 2025. Macallister also expected to be out,for a "while". Konate also limped off,to be out for how long ,who knows.And the rest of the injury list is well known. Expecting Slot to maintain and sustain, this phenomenal, momentum, without a quality depth,is nigh on impossible. The best scenario is to pray that we pull off a huge win against City,with no added casualties,and for the owners, to allow, Slot to strengthen the squad in January, as he sees fit. If that happens,I reckon,we have more than a great chance,to make a clean sweep,in adding some serious amount of silverware to the cabinet. Those kids that you are mentioning are some of the best in the world, not like some kids that haven't played much and haven't proven anything, players like cubarsi and yamal have proven to be some of the best in their positions. And Barca tend to have their off days more often than liverpool. Real Madrid also shut down Barca completely on the first half of the el clasico, but with liverpool it was relentless attacks in the first and second half. A match between the two would be entertaining.
