When he plays he's athletic and strong, but doesn't seem to do much on the ball and passes it like Hendo used to. When he comes off and Curtis comes on, there's an energy and aggression that connects the dots. He needs to play more like his first few games for Liverpool otherwise he's just a super sub imo.

Some 'fans' only care about goals and assists, work rate means nothing to them. We currently have a midfield 3/4 with a similar work rate to the 2019 midfield 3/4 but have output too, but Szobo is washed and Jones is a Championship player despite all their non-output stats being top tier.

I thought the bigger tactical change at half-time was telling Conor Bradley to ignore Mbappe completely. He pushed up straight away into the inside-forward position and Van Dijk could suddenly hit a crossfield pass to Salah in space. The overload that allowed Mac Allister to score wasn't just on the left side, it was on the right too. Bradley on the inside with Salah on the outside meant that Mendy had no idea who to cover; he wasn't close enough to Bradley to stop him playing the pass back in to Mac Allister, who scores, after Bradley himself had nearly scored a minute earlier with a free header. This can only have been a Slot instruction; I can't believe that any sane right-back would decide to leave Kylian Mbappe unmarked but Slot must have seen that Mbappe was never going to chase Bradley backwards and decided it was a risk worth taking.

@@l3eatalphal3eatalphaI don’t think he minds tbh, flying fullbacks are an echo of Klopp’s best football and Slot isn’t trying to phase everything out, just tweak the tactical approach to certain games and situations in game, and managing how to apply intensity. Actually a compliment to Jurgen Klopp as he had to walk so slot can run with it. Very unlucky aswell to have had an impenetrable city side to compete with for the last 8 or so years. Also special shout-out to Steven Gerrard. Watching him as a young boy I fell in love with the game of football and he had to practically crawl at times so Liverpool could be the powerhouse they are today. Trust me, the only thing I make in the kitchen is a big mess. As for football, there is no way City will win this, not the way they are so readily conceding goals. If you can't protect a 3-0 lead, late in a Champions League match, at home, in front of all of those supporters and after having lost an unprecedented 5 games in a row, there is no magic that Pep can conjure up to fix things. I suspect that now, their self-doubt is through the roof, along with a happy dose of finger-pointing in the dressing room. Liverpool will play it as normal, methodical, and come away with a big win in front of their home supporters. They looked really sharp against RM. I think City are in for one giant spanking, maybe a double! Strangely, your Dutch sounded very much like your Norwegian!

Great to see Liverpool beat Real convincingly, but concerning to see them run themselves into the ground in a match they didn't really need to win, right before a game which could be a title decider this Sunday. Bradley and Konate injured is a huge loss. Trent is just coming back and Gomez doesn't offer enough going forward. Konate is perfect for shutting down Haaland.

Madrid parked the bus in 2022 as well but still had consistent counter threat, Liverpool never looked as comfortable on the ball under Klopp as they did last night. another level to even 18/19 & 21/22 at their highest scoring. Slot won't ever make them as high scoring as those teams but the comfort in possession makes the difference against elite sides

'A' has to be long "Aaaa" as opening your mouth for the dentist. 'Ven' as in "fun". 'Be' as in "Behh" from a sheep. Trilling 'R' again. 'Ch' is the same as 'G' and the "ch" in "loch". Before watching, I'm going to comment that Liverpool weren't "so much better than Real Madrid". The only problem Real Madrid had was that two of their forwards didn't perform. One was Arda Guler, the kid who has half of Turkey commenting on anything Real Madrid related, and who couldn't make any good use of the ball. But more importantly, Mbappe caused almost everything that Liverpool got. The guy does absolutely nothing for Real Madrid. Nothing. He doesn't show for it, doesn't take up good positions, he doesn't do any work in defence, and when he gets it, he has no touch, can't dribble, can't pass, when he does manage a shot it's off target or at the keeper, but of course he didn't get close to getting any shots last night because of the rest of his game, and when he passes it to no one, i.e. to a Liverpool player, he does nothing to make up for his mistake. Had Vinicius Junior played that match, it would have been very different. Apart from when it got to that dysfunctional attack, Madrid were playing a decent game.
