Having Szoboszlai on the right like he did for Leipzig and does for Hungary could also be an option, he’d also cover Trent more on that right wing as he’d track back more than Mo. While Salah could be that central playmaker as a 10 or even a false 9. I just feel like our attackers and most of our midfielders are so versatile which would makes us unpredictable, our approach could vary from opponent to opponent. You could go Diaz and Salah on the wings with Dom and Jota centrally but you could also go Gakpo and Dom on the wings with Salah in between and Nunez up front. The problem is, everyone has to stay fit which doesn’t happen a lot. Especially with Jota, as much as I love him, availability is the best ability. I think we should let go of Jota or Darwin and get Gyokeres. I’ve been defending Darwin for a long time now but it just doesn’t look like his finishing and first touch is getting any better, if anything it’s getting worse

@@Larsd69 I think you're spot on with the point about rotation, the flexibility of the personnel in the attacking roles could be a great strength in the future. Gyokeres would be a fantastic addition. Although, a concern would be his form in the Prem, would he suffer from the same number drop off as Darwin? Possibly not, but it's a risk in my opinion.

Although our defensive midfielders and defenders do a good job, we currently don't have the quality to break through a defensive line of 7 to 9 players. But with better players at Liverpool, that could be less of a problem. (Although PL defenders are of course better.)

People comparing Ten Hag to Slot are absolutely short visioned. Please invest a bit more time in Arne Slot and you will be surprised about the great personality of the man (very similar in press conferences as Klopp, trust me). He is crazy about tactics. I lost count of how often he has changed the outcome of games by tactical changes during the match. Ten Hag did a great job at Ajax as a continuation of success. But the achievement Slot did, to flip over a big club in ruins to a seasonal title contender that are every season very competitive in Europe too. Insane stuff really. And yes I am Dutch and following the league for thirty years.

Slot and ten Hag are very different, not only in the ideals that they subscribe to but also in the tactical way that they coach. Slot comes across better than ten Hag imo. I feel like he will really build a good relationship with the fans, he comes across as a brighter personality and does lend himself well to the role at Anfield. Diaz is a pure winger who would like to stay outfield for most of the time . Gakpo is a winger who would like to drift inwards a lot , which is what he did at PSV . So i think gakpo is a better fit at LW than Diaz

4231 looks more suitable for Szoboszlai. Currently in the midfield 3 he's tasked to retain possession and hold his position so it limits his creativity and ability to free roam in space to which I think its where he plays best.

Feyenoord fan here, a couple of points: 1. the heatmap of geertruida is also skewed as he played as a centre back a lot. But yes, he inverts a lot. 2. I am really interested in how Slot will work with world class players. He often times talks about the importance of individual quality of players in European competitions often times (he has a clear respect for Paulo Dybala). 3. The feyenoord wingers have VERY defensive duties. The most important thing is the track-back and the work ethic. Players like Minteh and Paixao are asked to track back - especially when they lost the ball - this might pose some difficulties for Mohammed Salah who is currently becoming less fast than he used to be. 4. I think Slot would want to take Geertruida with him to work as the centre back next to VVD. 5. The physicality of Slot-ball is insane as well, players like Timber and Wieffer have become physical monsters. You can look forward to players like Gravenberch, MacAllister and Szoboszlai becoming similarly physical monsters.

So Geertruida can play as a center back and full back? Liverpool don't really need any more full backs, we have Alexander-Arnold, Gomez and Bradley capable of playing on the right & Robertson, Gomez and Tsimikas capable of playing on the left, but if he can play center back that could work, we will almost certainly be signing one this summer as Matip is out of contract. Who is better at center back between Geertruida and Hancko?

I'm literally using this tactic on FM24 LMAO. For real now, I think Liverpool will need some new players, namely a left back, a defensive midfielder, wingers (if Salah/Diaz were to leave) and a number 9 (Jota is injury prone, Nuñez is useful but not a starter). I hope Slot will be able to energize this team. They are in dire need of that. Also, a bit more control in possession is needed.

The two LFC players on loan at Hull could potentially become superstars for Liverpool if Slot develops them in the same manner he has been developing young players at Feyernoord. The crop of young players at the club who are ready to step up and be first team regulars include Morton, Carvalho, Van den Berg, Doak and Chambers who will join the likes of Bajcetic, Bradley and Quansah. But for me this isn’t what I think is best Amorim had his own style of play completely different to Klopp and was a real project to get behind. In my opinion he's going to have a shock when it comes to getting the ball back. Liverpool do come at you with two or sometimes three players but what I've noticed is that there are some players who don't put enough in regards the way they tackle. Two or three players do overwhelm the opponents but with one on one they are poor especially lately when you watch Endo losing out more than winning the ball. The slow build up lately hopefully will improve Liverpool's attacking phase but Slot has a lot of work ahead of him especially the stamina side of Liverpool. There are few players who have lost their stamina purely because of their age. I think he will need younger blood to improve the attacking side of things. Finally on replacing Klopp, if you are after the likes of Slot then Liverpool need to get into the next phase of evolving play. What Liverpool need is the next level not the same old same old so I hope if Slot does come in he takes us to that next level.

You're observation on the ball recoveries is really good, I've noticed this myself, whether it be from a lack of stamina for a press or not winning a 50/50, at times the defensive efforts have by bypassed and with the intensity of Slot's system, this cannot happen, perhaps this is a tactical thing and not so much a personnel problem. Or maybe, simply they just need a rest, either way, work on the training ground is going to need to be put in to progress Slot's ideas. He is a young coach with his values and ideals, and as everyone I'm sure, he is evolving his style year on year with new experiences that he has faced. Just because the styles are similar, doesn't mean he will only do what Klopp has done, he will progress the game the way he sees, which should see Liverpool into a newer future with that next level you wish for. the only question is would salah still be able to bring that quality after all these years, he might slow down the whole system with his dribbling that goes nowhere and very often this season we see him losing possession when he is stuck in the right side penalty box not knowing what to do.

Do you watch the games, Salah isn't slowing anything down, the slowness came from McAllister and endo, they just pass balls side to side. Salah stats are fast, one of the fastest on the team

Personally i think it will be good move for the Slot he has the players to really navigate and interpret his playing 'style which is similar a bit to the way Klopp plays. It will be really be an interesting preposition for a lot of our players. I think this system can strive if Salah decides to stay put. We have a system that can really flourish under his tutelage as Liverpool Manager .

Just on Salah for a moment, I think there might come a point in the summer where it feels like a natural conclusion to his journey at LFC, if that is the case, the replacement will be crucial and the system will help to identify a player that would play a similar role if needed. If I'm honest, I think the current group of Liverpool players fits Slots style best. With the others, quite a lot of adaptation would be needed if they were to bring their 3 at the back formation for example. The players that Liverpool have are a more natural fit in the formation and system that Slot has, not to say there aren't pro's for every manager linked with Liverpool, but he seems to fit the current crop the best (out of the managers linked). @Larsd69 Not necessarily, the defensive tactics for the wingers would be quite heavy duty. I didn't go into the defensive side but going backwards the wingers of this system really do work hard to track back and make a better defensive shape. I liken it to how Liverpool were a few years ago, with the willingness of both Mane and Salah working back to defend as a unit with the rest of the team.

@@ZekkoFootball I 100% get that, in that case I think Szoboszlai on the right would make more sense since he tracks back for 90’ without getting tired, whereas Salah does it less and less the older he gets. Having Salah as that central 10 he could really excel as a playmaker and like you showed he could join in as a second striker but could also go wide. Offensively I think Gakpo would be the better player as he’s more technical and can cut inside while Diaz plays wider. But if they have to track back constantly Diaz might be the sensible option, long story short there’s a lot of versatility which I like, so we could have a different approach every single game As for the system point. I agree Slot fits our players more since it’s a similar formation and style to Klopp, the only big change pretty much is our midfield three changes from a 6 and 2 creative 8’s to a double pivot with a 10. So most positions remain the same, and the changes aren’t big since players like Macca already played in a double pivot before. But the idea of a whole system/formation change sounded nice because we’ve been doing the same thing for almost 9 years. that’s why I would’ve love someone young like Amorim or Alonso to play a complete new style.

No matter who came in as a manager at Liverpool to replace jurgen kloop..my opinion is the player that we have is the main issue..we have injury after injury for the past 4 seasons..imagine player as young as konate need to be managed his game time cause of injuries..Harvey elliot is not a midfielder..he need to play out wide..jones only come good on boxing day each season..jota the best finisher always injured each seasons..gakpo more like a AMF..he's a ball carrier..salah is our legend but i was hopping he was sold 2 seasons ago..van djik need protection inform of him n competition..he has lost his pace..sabozlai need to play nearer to opposition box..he got wicked shot but always track back for defensive play..mac supposed play double pivot at middle..must transform trent to midfield..RB need a strong player aged around 24/25..need a ST THAT scores..not hopeful..we always lack 2 players for the final push..YNWA

I'm not delusional to the fact that players are sold, signings will be made and the team will change, but at this current point in time, what those changes will be with personnel is largely conjecture. The 11 and formation you put out is good, but for me, there is one glaring weakness in that team. We need a better DM to replace Endo. Now don't get me wrong, Endo has been amazing at times, but he is already over 30 and he would be better as the backup DM for when we need to rest the first choice. We also need a better finisher up top, Nunez is not ready yet, he might be in a season or two, and Jota I love, but is injured a lot and we cant rely on him to be first choice. A strong ball playing CB would also be needed, but other than that, I think that is it. 3 Signings and we will have a top top team and the backup 11 will also be great. As for the players themselves, the forward could be Viktor Gyökeres or someone like that. Even Ivan Toney would be a great shout as he is a massive Liverpool fan and would really give us that steel up front. CB could be a few to choose from, but Ousmane Diomande or Gonçalo Inácio from Sporting would be great, or some other young CB like António Silva or Scalvini. DM is a bit tougher! A lot of the best young DM players have already moved last season. Aurélien Tchouaméni would be a dream signing and maybe Madrid will let him go to allow Camavinga to move back into midfield. But if not, it is really hard to get a player who would walk into our midfield. Stefan Bajčetić is the future of the team in that spot, but he will need a few seasons to cement a spot, he will become back up to Endo maybe if we don't sign anyone. João Neves could be a good shout, but would be pricey! Khéphren Thuram or Kone could be good too, but we need someone of the quality of Rice, and there are not many out there who are not already playing for a top team. If we can solve these 3 areas, and maybe keep our injuries down to a minimum, then maybe we can challenge for the title again. If Salah leaves, then we will have to replace him, which is another major problem we will have. Signing Trent and VVD to new contracts should be Liverpool's priority though, losing our captain and vice captain would be a major blow!!!

I completely agree with you, while he has been brilliant I think Endo is very much a stop gap for another DM to come in, who that is I'm not sure right now, the names you have mentioned are definitely up their on the list. Striker does seem to be a bigger issue than I first thought, Toney or Gyokeres would be big additions and unfortunately Jota is a little too injury prone. Nunez will come good in time like you said but it is still time that cannot be wasted. As for CB, I really like Quansah, while his ability on the ball is not elite, given some time and training I believe that he has some major attributes to take him to the top. Overall, the 3 positions you highlighted are definitely areas that must be addressed in the summer and considering Edwards is back at the club and the structure is a bit more unified, I can see them really taking the market by storm, doing what they have done best over the years and finding those gems that become so much more once integrated into a system. I think this set-up lacks width. With both sets fullbacks and wingers inverting, this set-up would really struggle against a team defending narrow.

So the inverting is variable, I didn't explain that well enough to be honest. While they can invert and have the option to, that's not the only role they will play in the system. I think I said towards the start that the system is based for late overlaps by full backs, therefore providing some width but you are right, it is still quite narrow. Klopp uses Nunez as a complete forward who could do anything . Nunez doesn't poach a lot . With an AMF, Nunez will develop brilliantly . We need to be patient with him

I think hes the best option (considering xabi is unavailable) Trent has already been learning the inverted fullback role which is perfect, we also havent played with a 10 in soooo long, it would be massive for alot of the players in the club, I actually think that Harvey elliot would be best suited to the role, he has all the qualitys and for how good hes been for us the past 4-5 years he deserves the chance. Not only that it give fabio carvalho a big opportunity to come and fight for a place in the team.

Completely agree with what you're saying, in some ways it feels like a natural time for Salah to depart, as difficult as that is. Gakpo will play a role within the side I'm sure, he is a quality player and on the LW is a good shout. The striker department for me is something that really needs to be considered in the summer, for the reasons you have mentioned. I think Jota is great but his absences are really being felt, Danns for me is too young.
