My indoor cat got worms somehow about a year ago, I suspect she must have eaten a bug that was infected or something. She never showed any negative symptoms, I only realized she had worms because I saw one poke its head out of her butthole right in front of my face. Couldn't even begin to express my horror and disgust... I got her a deworming pill and all signs of the worms disappeared and she continued to act normal the entire time. I guess I must have caught it before it got bad enough to make her feel sick.

We had success with a treatment called Profender. Rescued a feral tuxedo cutie. She originally tested negative for parasites so we transitioned her to be house cat. Instinct told me something was not right. Periodic vomiting and then scooting and not wanting to eat were key indicators. Lack of eating made getting a proper stool sample almost impossible. Pureed food, hand feeding and lots of patience did the trick. Retest showed all 3 types of worms mentioned in video. Treatment worked wonders. We treated our other indoor cat as a precaution since they share litters. We dumped old litter weekly and steamed common areas just in case. Probably overkill but girl is doing great and probably doubled in size in 2 months. Don't give up and hope sharing helped.

I rescued a stray recently. He vomited and pooped out round worms. He had 3 doses of worm treatment for 3 days. There are a few worms still coming out of him but he is fine the very day. He really didn’t have much symptoms apart from the worms coming out of him. He is isolated and super friendly. I do have to. Replace the litter though. Those eggs can survive 8-9 yrs apparently even in Quebec climate!

Thank you for this important topic! It's up to us to protect our cats and every cat and kitten should be dewormed at least once a year. There is a new dewormer medication that came out at the vets office called "Centragard". It's a topical medication so you put it on just like flea meds on the back of their neck. You can only get it through the veterinarians though. I much prefer this rather than something I have to put in their mouth with a syringe. Please do not use over the counter dewormers. It's safer to get something from your veterinarian if possible.

@@theresiasingleton7055 I know very well about not being able to afford a vet visit if it's not necessary. You don't need a vet visit to get the dewormer I was talking about. You just can't purchase it over the counter. If the Bayer dewormer works for you then that's great. The reason why I said people should get something from their veterinarian versus over the counter is because there have been cases where over the counter dewormers were used then the cats still tested positive for worms. I think the Centragard was about $8 or $9 more but it treats tapeworms, roundworms, hookworms, heartworms all in one dose. If you're not able to do that, then you do what you can especially if you have more than one cat. And there's nothing wrong with most over the counter flea meds.

So, I’m very concerned for my cat, I recently adopted him he was hit by a car and his leg was amputated and when found covered in fleas, when I adopted him I found a few tape worms I gave him a dewormer a week ago all was fine and last night he started have spasms as he sleeps they don’t look like seizure but he just had one that kinda did look like one has anyone ever experienced this?!

The hospital thinks it's likely parasitic but the labs are idexx that are really terrible as they'd return confusing results. We were told that if it was just IBD then the prednisolone should work but if not then obviously it's parasitic. Either case so complicated. As we repeated the test twice with the same people. I was thinking it could be vitamin deficiencies as well.

We got a 14 week old kitten three weeks ago from a shelter. The kitten was fixed and dewormed before we got her. During the first week we had her she was "scooting" (i.e., periodically dragging her behind on the floor) which is a sign of worms. We brought her to the vet for normal shots and the vet gave her a deworm shot. The following week more scooting so back to the vet again. He said she has inflamitory dermatitis. Two shots later (anti inflammatory and anti biotic) today lets see what happens. Any advice or thoughts?

@@Shiturd45 Thanks. It stopped. Since then she eats normal cat food. Did introduce some grass. Then this week some scooting started again. All our cats 3 are indoor. The 2 others are fine. Guess just have to live with the little one scooting.

@@pvm1081 is she on dewormer ? My elderly cat is 12 and is on revolution plus. I don’t know the young cat version but revolution plus changed my cats life when we took her in almost 10 worms came out of her in 24 hours. but the scooting sounds like ringworm to me.

@@pvm1081 if it doesn’t stop within a week or two of the symptoms starting and only gets worse I’d take her to the vet. Watch out for signs of bloating it’s called balloon gut in layman’s terms. take them to the vet asap if you notice their intestines swelling very large on their sides especially they’ll look like saddlebags below their rib cage. it is a very weird disease that can be exacerbated by diet, overeating, and ringworm type parasites. Lastly, give your kitten gentle massages to help them fart. Hahahaha it really does help them. Momma cats often wash and bathe their kittens butts so if there is no momma present try wiping them with a warm wet compress and oatmeal baths always help. Good luck 🍀

@@weldonwadeturner1150 dewormer is $15 for a months supply. Cats have extremely sensitive noses. Birds die if you smoke near them I hope you don’t keep birds. I’m not knocking on ya but cigarette tobacco is 200 times worse than plain cigar tobacco it has so many more additives. If you’re gonna do it use a cigar or maybe some essential oils ? Keep searching for a better alternative to smoke

No I don't keep birds and my cats would have done killed them the only reason I used cigarette tobacco when I got my first and they did good it was an old home remedy that I learned from my I use a little bit of the tobacco but At least I don't use gunpowder to make my dod real mean if I had a Dog because I have seen A lot of people do that with their Dogs.
