One hour, she shouldn't be surprised when she comes back and finds are her car windows busted open . . . Edit: No, the dog isn't that strong. That's what any rational person would do; there's no time to wait when a dog is trapped in a hot car. Money can pay for new windows and pay for vandalism fines; money can't pay for dogs to come down from Heaven and return to their bodies.

Mackenzie Jutz That's not an excuse. It's common sense that being in a confined space or any hot space at all isn't good. I garuntee she's been in a hot car before and should know already. You don't need a dog to figure that out especially when she's in California and most likely has to get into a hot car everyday.

Ahjahnae Williams it is an excuse. If you don't have a dog you wouldn't have thought about it, because you wouldn't have to so if someone just randomly asked you, you would just think of a quick response without putting much thought into it.
@GeakyGamerGirl
@GeakyGamerGirl 8 жыл бұрын
Also if you think about it, a dog can't take it's fur off to get cooler., so she would be even hotter if she got into a full body suit and couldn't take it off, like dogs have.

***** I meant as if it was during the day when the temperature reaches it's peak, the car is always hotter as it insulates the heat and builds it up.
@GoddessFourWinds
@GoddessFourWinds 9 жыл бұрын
Mashed Potato Tastes Like Onions I understand if it's 75 and it's going to be 100 later, but she only said "when it's 75." I lived in SoCal for 7 years. Most of the time, it was 72. Leaving a dog in the car would have been no big deal. I think, while yes, people need to be vigilant about safety, they also need to use common sense. I watched a video where they broke into someone's car that was parked in the shade with the windows open, and the dog was not in distress. The cops showed the temperature *on the dash* that was in the sun. It was completely misleading and hyped-up. /smh Yikes! One of my cats just brought me a headless snake! lol! Sorry. The joys of being a pet owner... My swamp cooler needs a new motor. (I live in the mountains, and air conditioners "freeze over" up here, so swamp coolers are the "A/C" of choice.) When it gets hot, it's hotter than hell in here. Although I'm in the mountains, I'm in the high desert. It's been in the mid 90's outside, and I haven't got a single tree. I know that's not as hot as a lot of places, but I don't see anyone breaking any of my windows to cool off my pets and me...js. :P

mscraftyperson Just because you say it's really hot, doesn't mean it is. For example, where I live it's not hot and I can leave my dog in the car for extended periods of time. Ally Bab someone at what if they busted your windows open, because they suspected you were doing something illegal, and turned out to be wrong? BTW: it may be legal, but you should finish reading up on how the law actually works. Should you turn out to have been incorrect in your judgement call... you’ll be paying for someone’s new window, and possibly a new car.

This also goes for children. Don't leave your children or pets in the car, if you plan on running a quick errand then take them with you or leave them home! It's sickening to read stories about how children or pets die because they were left in the car. Don't do it, it's not worth them losing their lives!

MylkT1023 Sadly they do, I live in Arizona. One of the most horrific stories I have read was a father PURPOSELY left his son in the car. He looked up how long it takes for a dog to get hot in the car etc. They do it all the time and it's horrible. If I see a child or pet in a hot car screw calling the cops I will break their window if it means saving their life!

When I was just 9 years old, my old babysitter would go in to the nail salon or store with just my sister, leaving me and my 12 year-old autistic brother alone in her car. IIRC she'd leave the windows up to "protect" us, but probably mostly to protect the contents of her car. She was awful. This just goes to show that this is important knowledge for everyone to have, not just parents or pet owners. We'd be in the car for usually an hour but I can't imagine if we were in there for two.

Thank you Buzzfeed for making this video. This is so important, It's sickening to see how many times I've seen someone lock an animal or a small child in the car. Once I saw a dog locked in a car on a humid day. I immediately tried finding the owners of said vehicle, and another bystander called emergency services. It was 10 mins (since we spotted the dog in the car, who knows how long he/she was actually inside for) and the owners nor the police had arrived at the scene. I was freaking out, but the other fellow that was with me broke the window of the car and got the dog safely out. Thankfully the dog was okay, but it was incredibly neglectful for the owners to leave their pet trapped in there. For those people who still leave there pets/children unsupervised in the car with no AC, don't be surprised if you come back to a car that has received damages from having been broken into.

Good idea, only it could be expensive. I could see it as being a business by a large shopping mall, though. The option to bring your dog in and pay a fee to keep your dog there. It wouldn't be ideal, since then you'd have to pay, but some people may need their dogs there because they are on a trip or something. Nothing like that would be free.

The dog will die if you leave it in a car at 75 degrees because the car creates a greenhouse effect which means it gets hot very quickly which will clearly cause heat stroke, brain damage ect it's the same with children. Do not leave your dog in a car at 75 degrees or even anything over 45 degrees and always leave the windows down so there is a constant flow of fresh air.

When I was in Paris ( I was 11 at the time ) I was waiting in the car with all the windows down for my parents as they went into the shops. We had also left the air conditioning on so it wasn't hot. I waited for about 30 minutes and in the car next to me there was a puppy in a car where all the windows were completely up. He was panting and genuinely looked like he was about to die. I got out the car and sprinted into the shop and fetched the manager. I told him the license plate of the car and he announced over the speakers that there was a dog left in the car. I went back to my car and around 5 minutes later a man ran out of the shop and took the dog and tied him to a lamppost while he continued shopping. I felt proud of what I'd done :)

So you would rather have then tied up outside on the hot asphalt where they can get burns on their pads, people can steal them, and you have no idea what they or people are up to? Why not just leave you vehicle running with a cup of water and the AC on for the dog. You can even lock you vehicle. That way you know they have water and cool air. And if your extremely worried about someone busting your window leave a note and set a timer on your phone so you can go out and check on them every few minutes.

Thank you buzzfeed for bringing this information to the attention to those who own dogs and who don't! I feel like this will make a lot of difference because, even if people don't own dogs they can still make a difference if they see one in a car

My family try's to take are dogs with us as much as possible because they are are family too and I think it's sad that u can't always take ur dogs into the stores or restaurants u go to and they are in the car hot or even freezing to death. But dogs should be trained and safe so that u can do this because we don't want ur dogs to fight with someone else's pets or run away . Keep them safe as if they are ur kids because mine are my kids even though I'm 11 💞💞

You can bring ur dogs anywhere in California if you just buy a service animal certificate online and say you need it for emotional support.... I saw a KZbin video, so that's all I know😂

That is taking advantage of the system. It's put in place for the people who need it, not for any pet owner to use and exploit.

"Never"? Like come on..I am a HUGE dog lover and I specialize in these amazing guys, but there are situations where you have to leave them in your vehicle for a small amount of time. It depends the temperature and the location and the car and dog breed etc. But yes, leaving them in your car in a weather hotter than 75 degree day longer than 15 minutes is cruel.

My dogs love car rides, but here in Australia it gets pretty freaking hot. The longest I've left my dogs in the car was about 10 minutes with my sister in there as well. All the windows and sunroof were open (not enough to let them out of course) and and the car was still running (air con was on). Also I have floor compartments in my car, and I keep a dog bowl and bottles of water in there for them.

Once I was at Walmart with my mom and when we were leaving we saw a dog in the car with no windows open at all and by the way it was really hot it was like 85 degrees fahrenheit so when we saw the dog we checked to see if the windows were open and none were so my mom called 911

I live in washington so its really not hot often at all and I'm always against leaving my dog in the car but when I absolutely HAVE to, I have a battery powered fan in the trunk that I blow towards them.

My dog is incredibly trained and she on obeys my dad no matter what, and it really depends on how big the store is or whatever but she usually just waits outside if it's a local shop but if it's larger and more people are walking about there then she gets attached with her lead to like a pole or usually there is an actual loop thing to attach leads to. She is never left in the car on her own.

I do occasionally leave my dog in the car, under specific conditions -- if the temp is 65 or cooler and it's dark out; or if it's 45-50, I'm comfortable leaving them for a few minutes during the day. The only time NOT meeting those conditions that I left him in the car, I was driving alone to FL and absolutely had to stop for a bathroom break (9 hour drive). Even then, I parked in the shade, cracked the windows, and basically ran to the restroom.

How about you bring it in the store or leave it at home?
@MylkT1023
@MylkT1023 9 жыл бұрын
Shane King depending on the situation. 90% of stores will not allow a dog in the store. the only ones who are allowed to are service dogs. Also some owners live alone and feel anxious or panicked if they leave the dog alone. Maybe some dogs arent supposed to be left unsupervised because they poo or pee in the house or eat things they arent supposed to, or overall possibly endanger themselves.

MylkT1023 if someones dog is behaving like that when home alone there is always the option of buying a crate and crate training your dog, so you can put them in there while your out and know they won't get into something they shouldnt

When my mum was getting my puppy(who is my profile picture) she said she needed puppy food for him but dogs weren't allowed in the store and she couldn't leave him in a car because he was 5 weeks old so she took him in with a blanket and pretended he was a baby and so much people thought it was a baby that everyone said that looks like a tiny baby, but they look and they laughed really LOUD. It was so cute💖💖💖
