notice for the calculation till level 15, for the first few days of an account, you get an xp boost which lasts a few days(Im not sure how long exactly though) and this makes the time for the "1game a day" to the "20 games a day" drop a decent amount.

You get a 3-day XP boost, which has a small impact on it. If you were playing 20 games a day it would make sense to buy the 30 day boost. At 1 game a day the value is a lot less.

I remembered there used to be a 3x conversion rate from IP to BE when they were doing the conversion. I grinded and saved up a ton of IP before it was converted, and got nearly 50k BE for my trouble. I immediately used that to buy the rest of the roster, leaving me with around 30k BE. Between trashing junk and occasionally logging on once in a while to play, I've been able to get every new champion practically day 1 (unless I took a break long enough for it to drop to 6300BE) and still have 25k++ left.

Funny thing about this. Back when League was on Garena which was the only way you could play League on SG back then, there was an event where if you simply played and completed a few missions, you basically unlocked all of the champs (I believe up till mid 2023?) and as it ported to the official riot client, I just got every champ basically for free. Keep in mind that I only started playing this game at like 2023 so this was really huge.

A more realistic scenario would be "playing until first win", everyone would agree thats what they used to do when starting league, with 50% winrate we see thats a expected value of 2 games per day, you can simply claim one is a win and the other is a lose (because of the explicit behavior), in aram it would be 651 exp rate per day, which would be 1377.33 days (3.77 years) at 40 minutes per day being 918 hours in total.

well... i don't know if it's 2 games a day. i guess from a purely statistical standpoint yes you could lose infinite games in a row before your win thus the number of games per day tends to 2, but lol has an elo system meaning as you consistently lose, games get easier - making the win more likely. i guess it's not truly guaranteed but then the real issue comes in where you have 24 hours maximum to get that "first win of the day" and if we're assuming someone gets that every day then we're looking at a max of about 70 aram games (with quick queues). if i cared more i'd do the maths to figure out the average number of games here since we have a limit but I cannot be bothered. point is, less than 2 in this scenario.

You reach this number from summation of n*p*(1-p)^n-1 ; p=1-p => reaching final number which resolving the summation is p/p^2 = 1/p = 2 The probability of 70 aram games is 8.47*10^-22 To be more realistic the probability of 10 games is 9.76*10^-4 or one out of 1024 games, which dont get me wrong it will happen a few times because I claim it will take 2755 games to get full collection but not at all incredibly likely, and you could make this model limiting games to like 8 and you would add just a few days to the final number.

I love the road to faker challenge and I can totally understand how it takes up a lot of league time, but when I first found your channel i subbed for the fun challenges (beating league without touching grass, how long a league game can last, beating league without being seen, etc) and for your personality blending well with them. 10k are rookie numbers, last year was the first time I spent BE on the Emporium and since I have all champs and play since Season 3 I had quite some BE saved up. Long story short I bought 72 Chromas for the total price of ~160k BE Oh and I have 93.6k saved up right now so next Emporium is probably gonna be 100k+ again

Back in my time you could just gamble and buy a champion shard for 1600 IP, it was completely random, but since champion pricings were different then (they were much more expensive on average) you had a pretty good chance to earn back your IP if you took the champion out. For example if the champion was 4800 IP, then you bought a champion shard for 1600, then took it out for 2880 you still got the champion for 320 IP less. Sounds like a minor save but keep in mind that this thing saved me a HUGE amount of currency. Btw back then you could reroll 3 champion shard for a champion you didn't own.

Fun fact: If you use the battlepass tokens to buy random champion shards, you get a minimum of 960 BE (aka a 4800 shard) per time you do it (at the cost of 50 tokens). 500 tokens if you are free to play then equals about 10000 BE. If you buy the battlepass and fill it out that's closer to 40000 BE, and of course this is on top of guaranteeing discounts on some of the most expensive champions (any champs that are 4800+).

I'm not a good example for this however; I started playing league in the 2nd half of season 7, I am 286 Days league sober as of posting this (thanks league of graphs), my account lvl is 437 on NA. I mean, I started actively playing league like a bit before aphelios came out, some time in 2024, and got every champion sometime I believe either earlier this year or late last year. This is while also having periods where I wouldn't touch league for a while. At this point i've played nearly 2700 games of league of legends to date, playing 272 games in 2020, 647 games in 2021, 774 games in 2022, 620 games in 2023, and currently 385 games in 2024. I got some rewards from prime gaming which definitely boosted the amount of champions I got, but I also didn't disenchant duplicate champs unless I had at least more than 2 copies of said champion for mastery. This holds true to this day even though the mastery change happened this year, so I feel that would balance out the extra blue essence received from prime gaming, especially since I never used the rp given on any champions ever as far as I remember. So in basically 4 to 5 years of playing I got every champion in the game for free. So yeah, this is pretty accurate given my lived experience. Side note: buying skin shards for 50 event tokens and disenchanting them typically would result in more value than buying blue essence with event tokens directly in my experience.

You're forgetting that when this system launched you were able to reroll shards into champs like you could with skins. It was substantially easier back in the day to max out your champs by just buying up all the cheap ones then rerolling for the expensive champs.

The reason why there is a drop rate for the chests but not for the capsules is because the chests are legally considered as a form of gambling so it's required by law in some countries to inform the chances of winning, while capsules are not considered a form of gambling just a free reward.

Based on my experience with my friends, this feels correct. We all unlocked our champions somewhere between level 250 and 350 and it took on average like 4 years. But that’s with us not just buying champions only, and some people buying like one or two champions with real money.

If you're willing to pay money, I think I found the best way to do that. Buying event passes and using even tokens from them on random champ shards is VERY cheap for the number of champs/BE you get for your money. It's a way better deal than just buying champs with RP. So I NEVER spent RP on champs bought directly in the shop, but I do spend RP on those passes.

I know I’m not normal but I unlocked every champ in about 9 months without spending money(specifically) to buy champs. I did buy event passes and use some of the blue essence to buy champions. I also had the Amazon prime capsules for about 9 months before they discontinued them, they gave champ shards, blue essence, and a champ permanent. But the most important thing was the 30 day xp boost. Now of course the biggest factor for me was just playing an ungodly amount of league(mostly aram) I am currently level 594 after starting to play league in October of 2022. I unlocked all the champs by about July of 2023. And am currently sitting on about 100k blue essence while waiting on essence emporium. Last essence emporium I spent about 200k blue essence so I don’t really know how much I’ve accumulated over the time I’ve played. P.S. I still have saved my Amazon prime champion permanents and use them whenever a new champ comes out instead of paying a ton of blue essence. But I’m down to my last token lol.

There is a VERY simple solution to this. Make every champion free to play in normals/aram and put a min mastery level to unlock that champion in ranked. This way you dont have to grind years to have everything and you dont get people first timing a champion in your ranked games.

There is a slight problem with this method because it requires you to have the minimum Mastery requirement on 20 champions minimum. This means you'll have to play a ridiculous amount before being able to play ranked - you almost always will be able to get your top 4 champs. So you are simply wasting players' time. I like your idea and I used to think about it myself but the more you think about all the consequences of it the more it falls apart when it comes to ranked limitations. I think Practice Tool should allow to test any champion. Other than that we'd have to design a more sofisticated solution.

As a 10+ year F2P league player, I'm happy share that I don't even need to spend BE on champ shards anymore because I can just use "random" Champion Permanents to get a the latest champ for free when they release. I would generally buy the new RP skin bundled when I quit in like 2015ish idk I quit when we had the old clients when I came back I had loads of BE and bought the few champs released in that time. depending on your start date, getting all the champs can take way longer or shorter. if you played since 2016 and literally didnt log in, you won't have all the free champs you would have than you would have if you made an account within the last 4 years since the "new player" system was released. The calculations need to account for how many games you played before the chest changes, the new player changes, and how many times you played with friends as you get a bonus. You will also have to take into account when champions go on discount, and if they are getting their first win of the day essence bonus. this can take anywhere between 10 months to 10 years depending on all these variables and more variable depending on the modes you play. (they don't all give the same amount)

Personally, I've been playing since around 2012 until 2016, took a break for a few years, then came back around 2019, which was when I unlocked 80% of the remaining roster in about a year's time. You really have to maximize champion shards to reduce the BE costs to unlock as many as you can. Coming from a Garena server, though, I think spending a few bucks on the mini events probably helped accelerate this, but they usually revolved around getting skins more than getting champion shards or BE so their impact shouldn't be that big. Honestly, these mini events are some of the few things I've missed about Garena. I'm less inclined to spend on skins under Riot.

You can get the 2 XP boosts (Wins and Days) and you combine them and you would get around 500-600 xp per (win). However I don t know how long it will take.

Sadly, this didn't take into account that Riot adds more Champions occasionally. In 6 years, there's gonna be another two or three dozen at least, and in the extra time I'd take to grind up for those, a few more will get added

It takes a year at max. Freshly created accounts open like half of the champ pool until lvl 30. And blue essence system is way easier to open champs than old one.

I've been playing since Season 9 and just last month (around level 500), I was able to own every champion in the game, no RP nor irl money was spent on buying champions 👍 Now I'm just saving BE for the next Blue Essence Emporium

A few observations: 1.- I'm pretty sure glorious champion capsules give shards that are more valuable on average (this is anecdotal based on experience) 2.- I think higher value champion shards are rarer in general, and when they are compensated with BE in a champion capsule, it's generally because they're of lower value (this is anecdotal based on experience) 3.- assuming that players will use 10 mythic essence to turn into 1500 BE, but not not considering shards dropped from chests is kinda wild (I don't blame you tho, many moving parts) from 1 and 2: averaging champion prices to make all shards be worth 3150 on average is probably wrong from 3: it's probably a decent bit shorter than whatever we might calculate if we don't consider chests (chest rate is quite hard to calculate now with the new confusing as fuck system)

I'll be honest, I've had every champ unlocked for years now, and I tend to pile up to 100k blue essence pretty easily to spend it at the emporium and such. I don't play that much, but when the hextech stuff was released, i feel it became extremely easy to get any champ you wanted. I havent played now in a year though, so idk what systems are at play nlw

I agree giving everyone all the champs at first isn't smart. Everyone has different skills and plays every champ differently, good and bad. Riot kind of rewards you for trying out different champions, but obviously rewards you for mastering a champion and I think seeing how you master a certain champ gives a general insight to what play style generally are better with. For me Bard, Rell and Seraphine are my top supports and highest mastery champs. They all play differently, but I'd say the common trait for me is playing them more aggressively. Regardless I've been playing since s2 and yeah I could have all the champs by now (even though my old main got perma banned), but I buy champs usually that I plan on learning or have some skill set in. Sometimes its just to get the bundles discounted. I do think its possible to buy every champ, but I wonder what reason would you have buying every champ? Unless your pro.

Other games just offer a full unlock for $25-40. It's good for the playerbase, particularly when some games lock out new characters from ranked until you've got a normal game with them recorded.

i bought some battlepass and also had just in general a lot of champion shards. Before the update that changed champion prices I selled the Blue essence shards that would get reduced next patch and bought the champions that would increase next patch abusing the time I need to unlock the champs

A realistic time as someone playing for 9month and beeing lvl 150 and having 2 friends who started at the same time with one playing maybe 1 game a day. You will get there much faster. I’m currently only 20 champs away from having all of them and even my completely ftp friend who doesn’t really play much is sitting on over 100 champs. I think around 1.5 years for all champs is a pretty good baseline for ftp

I bought urfwick for 150k which slowed me down... plus the extra rune pages, name changes and quint runes with ip back in the day. Still a fair system tbh. 6 years is wild though.

I started playing on EUW at the end of 2018, it took me more than 6 years to get all champions, 0 money spent on anything in league of legends, no RP, Bundle, Skins, Champions, Pass, ... bought, legit only free to play but i was super unlucky, most champion shards that i've got from level up capsules or chests were super cheap champion shards like Master Yi so i ended up having way less blue essence compared to most other people so i would say for most people who play Free 2 Play only it should take around 4 ~ 6 years based on my experience and my friends experiences

been playing this game for 10 years now i think. had every champ after playing for 3ish years. i am now just collecting champ shards just because. some champs i have almost 20 champ shards. from what i can tell you get way more champs that are less in value then champs that have a lot of value (maybe because there are more less valuable champs, idk). Right now i have 162 champion shards (not even all of them, i do sometimes disenchant them to get the new champs) and 8 champion permanents champs i have the most shards are: ashe -15 amumu - 16 master yi - 16 garen -17 singed - 18 warwick - 20

I am not sure exactly when I started, either before or after Belveth got added but been playing since then and only unlocked all champs in January of this year, the biggest help I got was the amazon prime but I only started using it around September of 2022 until the last reward which I didn't bother to resub for. Mind you, I was getting the reward for 2 months by subbing once, and it was also being free the first time. Man, I miss the amazon prime reward.

Not sure if you included the daily play rewards and awakening missions for new players, as they make a bit of a difference. I ran my own calculation adding hextech chests, early level rewards and 4 champion shards per event. I got 580162XP for level 211 instead of 783168XP for level 265. Which saves 582 games making it take 4 years 6 months 5 days.

for me it was from early 2016 to late 2020 (4.5 years) where i used Worlds 2020 event (that lasted 1.5 - 2 months) to farm champion fragments and craft the ones that i didn´t have

i will say i think unless there was a quick mention of it, you missed that new players get to pick a reward each day they play for 7 days, 5 of those being a champion from each role (day 1 you get to pick between Tristana, Caitlyn, Ezreal, day 2 Illaoi, Riven, Garen etc) I hardly think it matters too much. You also def start with some champs like lux, mf etc. That wouldn't change a ton though and your math seems otherwise solid, i just wanted to um actually you. Interesting topic!
