Right. First you should not wait for the hit of pain as pain killers need time to kick in. Second the pain killer specifically Ibuprofen also helps in lowering the inflammation

I’ve specifically told my dentist not to numb me with lidocaine that has adrenaline or epinephrine in it and so whenever I leave my dentist the numbing usually wear off like an hour later

It's 72 hrs since my procedure to get a couple f fillings on my right side lower teeth... and most of my tongue and my lower jaw is still tingling and feels off, can't taste anything & When I bite down I feel electricity shoot through my jawbone to my tongue. @@ayylmao2305 mine has turned into having taste again, still diminished, but now it feels like I put a cigarette out on h it tongue. If it were my guess I'd say I'm healing somewhat. Dental advised steroids (medrol) dose pack and 800mg ibuprofen couple times a day for the next couple weeks til I see him again. Who knows. Nerve shit sucks.

Jut now it's been a couple weeks and I can say I have recovered about 90 percent of not more. Didn't take the steroids because I have stomach issues. Make sure if they prescribe them you ask your PCM about it before taking them if you currently have any preexisting conditions.

@Your.favourite05 not what my dentist told me. They said to give it I think about 30 minutes before I ate anything. And then when I did eat, to chew on the opposite side of those 2 fillings because 1 would be fine by that point but the other would take a few hours to harden fully (one filling was metallic the other was some other compiund).

@@kaitlynnhuembes8700 hi! 7 months after my tooth extraction, the gum swelling and numbness are still there. X-Ray showed that a buccal nerve was damaged by injection during the extraction. The dentist said that if it doesn't heal after 6 months, it's permanent. Buccal nerve is very tiny like a piece of hair and the damage is not as serious as other nerves.
