What do you think could be current "time arbitrage" opportunities?
@albertobolis1663 Жыл бұрын
I think this kind of arbitrage can be applied to the food industry. For example I am a shareholder of a milk and pasta producer in italy which suffered in 2022 the inflationary wave on the cost of wheat, milk (from farmers) and raw material in general. in 2023 margins are coming back, in addition to a really impressive track record of growth with a clear strategy and lots of buybacks. The stocks looks optically expensive on an P/E basis, but if you look to cash flows o Ebitda, the yield is 20% (steady state scenario). I think this stock and the food sector, in general, can be a good long term bet.

Hi Tom. Excellent deep dive on a stock. Please do more of these if you can. Any examples of past short term issues providing investment opportunities are great learnings from a value investing perspective. And deep dives on investing mistakes made by the great investors would also be helpful. Thanks.

Hi Tom, great video! Two comments. If you had invested $10,000 in the beginning with a 19.4% CAGR for 25 years you would have got around 1.1 million which would be about 21 times more than what you would have got from the S&P 500. The other one is that the stock price bottomed out by the end of 2011 as shown in the video and by the time you got the 2012 financial results (By the end of September as shown here) the stock had already gone up. My point is that you had to have the foresight and fortitude or conviction to act when things were happening at the time and not after getting quarterly results at least in this specific example which I'm sure it must had been not easy at all. That being said, your point was very well conveyed in this video. Thank you!

Citigroup (C) is a "time arbitrage" due to its restructuring (It's selling off global consumer banks to improve ROE) .. this restructuring has delayed buybacks, and Citi thus trades at 0.5x book, a huge discount to peers

“There’s more and more of a concern that incoming data is revealing that the Fed might be a little bit behind the curve than maybe they expected heading into this year,” said Bipan Rai, North America head of FX strategy at CIBC Capital Markets in Toronto. In my portfolio, I'm noticing more red than green. How are other people in this market raking in over $350k gains within months

You make a really good point; when I first started investing on my own, the market was seriously taking advantage of me. I hired a broker despite my initial skepticism, and I outperformed the market by more than 9%. I initially believed it was an anomaly, but after it occurred twice in a row, I decided to remain with investing through an analyst.

My Financial Advisor is MONICA PAYNE TUTORIALS. I found her on a CNBC interview where she was featured and reached out to her afterwards. She has since provide entry and exit points on the securities I focus on. You can run a quick online research with her name if you care for supervision. I basically follow her market moves and haven’t regretted doing so

Monica Payne Tutorials appears to be a true authority in her profession. I looked her up online and found her website, which I browsed and went through to learn more about her credentials, academic background, and career. She owes me a fiduciary duty to act in my best interests. I set up an appointment to use her services.

I love the bit about RoE and how it relates to price to book. Where can I read more about this concept?
@InvestingwithTom Жыл бұрын
Buffett inflation article from the 70’s actually made it click for me. “How inflation swindles the equity investor”
@Nemi51500515 Жыл бұрын
@@InvestingwithTom Ok, this makes sense reading that. P/B of 1 basically gives you the RoE percentage as an expected return. Buy at a P/B of 3 and you should expect 1/3 the percentage return. Example: RoE of 20% at a P/B of 3 gives you a expected return of 6.7%. Is that how you see it?
@InvestingwithTom Жыл бұрын
If all earnings were paid as a dividend and the business didn't grow or shrink, yes. But, you'll see in the article that it's complicated by the rate of reinvestment. Buffett will explain it better than me :)

Hi Tom, nice video. i am a new subscriber. can you talk about FLGT? i think you would like this company as it fits within the framework here. growing business, fortress balance sheet, and trading at an attractive valuation below tangible book. good fundamental demand dynamics and potential for further expansion through both organic verticals and industry acquisitions. the key is implementation and integration. any opinion?

I feel like this video was speaking to me. Cakebox a uk maker of delicious egg free cakes (ticker cbox) fits this perfectly. It’s price has tanked because of the price of fresh cream going up but has also made more money every year since it’s inception. Margins and roic, roa etc are all amazing. Price to book is hovering around 3 as well. No brainer. I’d load up on more if I hadn’t already!

Amazon. FCF will go back to big positive numbers in few quarters once the spending on warehouses and logistics is out of the equation. Probably 50% upside only based on that.
