That is true. When I was around 12-14 years old (I'm 20 now) I saw a video of a filthy home here in youtube and I feel disgusted and judged even without knowing the reason why their house turned out like out. I didn't commented though but I was thinking thing such as "how could someone live in a house like that" or "how could the person/s let their house turned out to be that gross. It's filthy. or "I would never let our house be like" until it happened to me. I was ashamed of the old me for judging even tho I am not aware of mental illness is at that age. Yes, I'm telling the truth since most oldies do not believe in that. They just label it under "kaartehan" I'm not quite sure what it is in english but the close word to it is a drama. Some old people also think and label mental illness as "trend". When their teenage child/s told them that they are suffering from anxiety and depression, they think they are just hopping on a trend which is why during those times I don't have any idea of what mental illness is. And the funny thing is, I, myself is suffering from it. I told my classmate back in junior high school that I feel lonely and sad even though I am surrounded with people and I cannot forget she told me "Mental illness is just a matter of mind" so I grew up thinking that feeling lonely and sad even though I am surrounded with people is just an illusion that I create or an imagination that I need to escape to. That feeling down is wrong. That I should only be happy. Regardless of not knowing what mental illness at that age I am still ashamed of myself during that time 'cause I judged without knowing. I'm sorry I do not know how to tell story but I hope y'all understand what I'm trying to tell. Anyways, before I leave I wanted to tell y'all that after a year of that conversation with my classmate, I still feel lonely and I know there is something wrong and even though I tried everything she told me and everything I could possibly do, I still feel something was off and that was when I decided to visit a doctor. Turned out I was suffering from anxiety and mild depression, as well as mild OCD and PTSD. After that, I educate myself about mental illness and other things related to it and tried my very best not to judge but instead to be mindful and understanding 'cause it really can happen to us. If you happen to read all that, thank you ✨

It happened to me. Not as bad as these places I was able to keep the “hygiene” part in check but I couldn’t get myself together couldn’t focus and function normally. I got hit bad with post natal depression and was alone, then had to go back to work full time I couldn’t cope. I started having difficulty with extra tasks beyond basic cleaning and before I knew it I was being overtaken by stuff. My stuff, baby stuff, old clothes, laundry, papers I kind of would just shove things away best I could. I was often buying things instead of taking care or trying to find things I already had. I knew I needed to get rid of things but I just couldn’t I got overwhelmed whenever I tried to start and it got worse because I couldn’t find things easy and it affected my routine I was always tired and late. I did start medication for depression but it took someone physically helping me and getting me social again before I could get motivated to get control again. This woman she is doing something amazing I wish I had her in my life!

I just wanted to thank you Auri. Not only for helping a ton of people get their spaces clean and ultimately giving them one less thing to worry about. But you’ve helped me. I’ve found the joy in cleaning. I like making things clean and sparkle. While I will always have my mental illness and will have a bad day sometimes, I know that it doesn’t take long to clean and staying on top of cleaning is easier than before. There’ve been years and months where I didn’t clean. I would let it get so bad. Not nearly as bad as some of the houses you take care of, but bad enough. I wouldn’t want people over, even family or close friends. I’d feel embarrassed and ashamed. It was never something I wanted to take care of, I had more pressing matters. But, when I found you, a lot changed. I wanted to keep my area clean, not just because of guests or for appearances. I needed to do it for myself. It helped me a lot. And your love for cleaning made me enjoy it as well. So thank you !! Thank you so very much for helping these people, me included . I may live on the other side of the globe, but your reach is far. And your kindness and nonjudgmental view on cleaning is amazing. Again thank you so very much!🥰🥰💕💕

When she mentioned how dark it is in Finland it occurred to me how much the constant lack of sunlight would affect someone with depression or other mental illnesses. I live in Canada and winter is an especially hard time for me. When it gets dark at 4pm everyday it’s like I lose all motivation or energy to get anything done. I still deal with depression the rest of the year, but I always get a small pick me up when spring comes. I can’t imagine not having that.

I have been finding it hard to stay on top of dishes and cleaning as my mental health goes to shit, and I came across a good metaphor - it doesn't matter if you have to do the dishes twice, just run the dishwasher. ie instead of worrying about getting the dishwasher stacked perfectly, just get it running. So what if you have to put a few dishes back in the next load because they didn't quite get clean?

Indeed, I've also thought about that. It's probably not only a low energy level, that they don't have the energy to clean and tidy up, although it surely initially may start as such. But when it goes to the extent that they have all that rubbish, mouldy food remains etc around it must have some root in serious distortion of the sense of self worth that grown along with the illness?

@kck9742
@kck9742 2 жыл бұрын
Here's how to do that: before you go to work one morning, heat your oven to 200 F, then once it's to temperature, turn the oven off. Open the oven and spray oven cleaner in there, including the inside of the door, close the door. Leave till you get home so it's been sitting for many hours. If needed, remove the door (there are YT vids on how to do this and put it back on) and use Scrub Daddy to scrub and wipe it out... should be fairly easy if you've left it on so long. A pumice stone is good for the stubborn stuff. You can put. your oven racks in the bathtub and spray with oven cleaner too -- leave those for a couple of hours, and they should be easily cleaned with the same tools.Just make sure to wipe out the oven completely, and voila.

I had no idea those could be washed and I just kept buying new ones until I saw that video. Now I wash mine every couple of months and it smells and looks much better.

Had to watch the video twice to cheer myself up :) I love that you really want to help the home owners and that you do not exploit them in your videos. I tried watching other cleaning videos and cleaning TV shows and often the home owners are humiliated by the cleaners and their struggles are not taken seriously. You, on the other hand, are so kind and compassionate. Thank you Auri you are a star 🌟

When people are faced with a big cleaning job of their own (or someone they're helping) I think it's really helpful to think about how long something might actually take and write it all out. It can feel overwhelming when you just look at the mess but when you think about it in terms of hours or days you can see that it is something you can accomplish. Even with one hour a day in five days CLEAN. Or yes clean in five hours. Amazing!

Honestly, as someone who is obsessive about cleaning, a blade in the house is the best tool ever. Cuts deep cleaning in half when it comes to your stove, counters, floors and any built up areas. We bought an older home with all wood floors and the elderly owners had had their floors waxed for years and years. The wax build up in the corners of every room was unreal (also country home so the bug poop was built up in the corners too). The blade gets it all off in seconds. Just a wet cloth to wipe after. It’s a miracle tool!

@@johannas.l.brushane2518 I am in Denmark and I used to do so too with my lambskins. Denmark used to have winter temperatures at 0 to -5 C mostly. But in the last 5-10 years the climate warming has meant that now the winter temperature is mostly just above 0 C. Which means no snow to clean my lambskins. 😭 And yes, that is actually what bothers me the most about it. 🤣 (Well apart from being existentially afraid that Denmark is going to be flooded, and we are all going to be climate refugees).

@@SIC647 Yes, I have noticed the same in Sweden, we usually have some really cold periods but it tends to be quite a variation in the temperatures. When I was a kid 70s and 80s we had long periods where we could do wintersports while now you'd almost be lucky to have a couple of days when you could go skiing. Some years they also had to take in artificially made snow for "Vasaloppet".

I LOVE your videos, Auri! You are inspiring & helping me. I have severe depression & also panic disorder so basically my spirit is broken while certain things trigger me to panic. Setting the timer in this one made me freak out so bad!!! I became very anxious & almost stopped watching. I have a problem with my back that affects my feet. If I squat down for too long, my feet feel as though they are on fire & I have to immediately sit down. This makes cleaning so hard also so I cannot clean in a hurry because I have to stop a lot to get off my feet. The pain is excruciating & I cry. I sure can’t set a timer for myself or I’d surely have a panic attack. Please keep posting more videos! You are so cute & it’s so nice that you help people who are just like me! My apartment is so gross & it overwhelms me to look at it. Looking at it makes me panic & more depressed. I’m going to start with my bathroom!
