Embarking on a geocaching adventure in Reno, NV, I stumbled upon a cleverly concealed treasure tucked away in the branches of a nondescript tree. The coordinates led me to a fake birdhouse that seemed ordinary at first glance. Intrigued, I inspected the surroundings, searching for the elusive geocache.
Upon closer examination, I discovered a hidden compartment within the birdhouse. My excitement grew as I realized this was no ordinary cache. My attention was drawn to a small magnet attached to the side of the container. The challenge became apparent - using the provided magnet, I needed to skillfully navigate the key upwards to unlock the secrets hidden within.
The task proved more intricate than expected, requiring patience and precision. Multiple attempts ensued as I grappled with the magnet, each effort bringing me closer to unraveling the mystery. With determination and a touch of finesse, I successfully maneuvered the key into my grasp, unlocking the geocache's concealed compartment.
The reward was not just the physical trinkets inside, but the satisfaction of overcoming a unique and thoughtfully designed geocaching challenge, making this find in Reno a memorable and exhilarating experience.

My favorite cache was inside a fence that you could take apart. Took us forever to figure that out. It just looked like a random fence and we couldnt find anything else in the area either. Once we found it it was so satisfying though. All the caches in that town were apparently made by this one maths teacher that was just totally into making them super elaborate. :)

Two of my favorites. One only had the hint BDI. BDI wtf is BDI? Who knows couldn't find it knew it was around as we knew the owner and he checked still there. So mmm whats BDI.. The gps signal plays games in that area so your always getting mislead. Then BAM it hits ya. Its at a local store. Parking lot. This store happens to have a giant statue TOTEM POLE Of a BIG DAMN INDIAN. 2nd one was on the back side of a whats it called old electric store forgot the name. Went outa business while back. Anyway HUGE CONCERT building with a large hill on the back end the signal keeps sending you to different places. Spent SOOOOO LONG looking for the damn thing. Then one day after weeks of trying. One of us mom i think realized something. There was a DEAD BOLT on the outside of a door. No big deal its the storage end of a big electric store so sure they would have a lock. Duh. Wait thats a fire door. A emergency exit if you will. A dead bolt lock..... on a fire escape door? Interesting.... Walks up to door grabs lock wiggle wiggle ITS A MAGNET someone hollowed out a dead bolt and STUCK it on a metal door hahahahaha

I can get you the picture but it will not be cheap. I know who to 📞. In 1972, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn’t commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, If no one else can help and if you can find them. Maybe you can hire, The A-Team.

She blatantly said she wasn’t dragging me around to find “random shit strangers leave in random boxes” and after I became an adult I was always either to poor (for the traveling around part) or too busy until eventually I forgot about it. I might give it a try now that I’m an adult with time AND money for exploring

Two really neat concepts to Geocaching is called the Travel Bug and that's placed in a cache and the next geocacher takes the Travel Bug to another site and places it and so on and so on. All of this is logged online and you see where the Travel Bug started out and how many hundreds of miles it has traveled. We also "cache in" and "trash out" by always carrying little trash bags and picking up any litter on the way in and out.

Best geocache I ever did was a 20+ part scavenger hunt through 10 different cemeteries where you had to assemble the correct lat and lon from birth and death dates of a list of people, culminating at a lamp post in a Walmart parking lot you had to disassemble. Inside was a film canister with the name of a park and coordinates, and only then could you find the ammo can in a black trash bag… 2001 was a crazy time!

I remember going on a hike in Lake Tahoe with the boyz, we came across a birdhouse hanging from a tree in the middle of absolute nowhere lol. There was a little ice chest below the tree that had more bird feed in it so we decided to refill it up but when I opened the hatch to the birdhouse we heard a click on the back of it, we tried to see where that came from and it was this little tiny door that popped open and had an arrow pointing up 👆 towards the tree 🌲! So we looked up and there was a little hole in the tree where a geocache was located! It was so crazy the inside of the hole had this tiny little couch in it with little toy gnomes hanging outs I had no idea what it was all about but my friend did. Told me all about it and I’ve been hooked ever since!

@@alondrancr You document your find, a bit like birdwatchers track the birds they've seen, and generally you bring a trinket and take a trinket, switching them out and recording your visit within the cache itself. It's a wholesome activity for parents to do with pre-teens and teens, teaching them to use GPS coordinates, read maps, learn geography and solve a variety of unusual puzzles while roaming about in a non-destructive way in their corner of the world. It helps to instill a sense of community with unseen others who came to a spot before us and who will come after. Some involve history lessons or word puzzles or mathematical calculations. It's like a scavenger hunt that one can participate in at any time.

One time my 8th grade class went on a field trip to catalina island. Our male teacher at the time loved biking and hikimg so much and had found a hiking trail that was 2.5 miles long and really narrow. He asked us all if we would like to go and out of our class of 48 students only 8 of us went. I was one of them and it was so so steep and narrow that i thought i was going to die and i was crying so hard. Anyways. We finally got to the top and we were no joke above the clouds. There was a geocache there and we each left something in the box that we had found along the trail. That was the craziest geocache that I've ever found, what about you guys.

I didnt know how they worked so I told my sister to take it and we could show the rest of the family once back at the cabin. My Auntie told me that they werent supposed to be taken, so we opened it and there was just a list with names and dates of who had previously found it. Dont worry, I got right into my car and took it back to the falls. I'll look for it the next time I'm out there :)
