Well Boys and Girls, have I ever found and fixed my SPF8000T-DMV-MPV fan noise problem! I convinced myself (wrongly) that the noise was mostly in the upper 2 fans. changed them out for 2 quieter ones, cover off meter @24" drooped from about 78db to 72. Bought a lower replacement rated at 48db, vs the 68 from just the lower by itself, and before doing the painful swap, fired it up off a 12v battery, and it was also 68db. So put a thermocouple sensor on the heatsink, observed fan operation, which is it comes on at 104F or a certain current load, per the manual, and at full load the temp never got over 110f, way low, for these scr's 150f is a piece of cake. So I try dropping the fan speed with a series resistor. Played with several, ended up with a 5 watt 10 ohm and the fan is now super quiet, and at full load the temp is only 120F. The 2 small current transformer board fans come in at 48db, and with both the power transformer fans and the single AC fan, I measure 54db, roughly 24db drop from factory, which google says is perceived as a little better than 1/4 of the loudness. Bottom line is looks like Growatt's lower fan is sized for at least a 12KW unit, way overkill for anything smaller, and you can certainly put in a voltage dropping resistor, if you choose, more easily than a fan replacement. I like the other choice even better, to put in a PWM fan speed controller.Either way all you need is a 3-wire extender cable (2.54mm connector) and just cut the red wire for either the resistor or the output of the PWM module as posted by another KZbin OP. If you want whisper quiet, do the same for the pair of tiny fans (yes, the 8000T has a total of 5 fans).

Are you satisfied with the performance of these Growatt inverters? I'm trying to plan for the system I want to get started with.

Yes but I will be upgrading at some point. Just depends on what you need your inverters to do. Off grid works great for the price. Can run my whole house so I do recommend.

What firmware do you have on your inverter? Mine is 113 with 114 and I managed to do an upgrade on it and now it runs much quieter on low power consumption.

Will need to check. I did update it several months back

Have a Sol-Ark 15K that has a high pitched sound. No load

That sounds unusual for a sol-ark. I would contact manufacturer for help in diagnosing the problem. 👍
