Matt like you I hated him at Bama but respected him and his program but am jubilant he’s gone. Also very thankful for 2003. Was in the dome with my dad as a 12 year old and that’s a moment I’ll forever talk about. My dad a man of little emotion broke down with tears and wore a hat that belonged to my deceased grandfather who brought him to games as a child. That night I saw many many old men with tears in their eyes bc it was something they’d thought they’d live to see.

Saban can blame that decision on doctors all he wants. Not taking Brees was his choice. He was the GM and President of the Dolphins in addition to being the coach. Complete control. That decision was his. And proof being? He was healthy enough to be signed by the Saints after their Dr.'s looked at him.

Nick took the excitement Dinardo injected back into Tiger Football and elevated our expectations to the moon and beyond. YES....we could have 7 or more nattys if he stayed...but...i think the fight and the wins and the trophies mean more....because despite his success, we still rose....but Nick always gave LSU and Baton Rouge flowers. So, he gets mine

I was born in BR grew up an LSU fan always will be. But I am a 1994 Southern Miss alum. I remember the LSU loss that following fall fondly. I recall the day Bear Bryant retired and his death a year later. I was 11 and 12 years old. It felt like a loss for all of football. Bryant was very respected. Sabin is very resented.

1) I think in a few years time, the resentment will fade and we'll all appreciate Saban, not only for what he meant to the game but also what he did for LSU. 2) I think Bryant actually died a few weeks after he retired??? I don't remember, but I think I read that somewhere.

Funnny recollection I had the ngiht we won the NC in 2003. I was only 10 years old, and my elated dad turned to me and said something along the lines of "LSU football doesn't win National Championsips, were not Nebraska or Michigan or any of these other shcools... this is unprecedented" wild to hear you say the exact same thing 20 years later...

LSU should definitely run the west now with Georgia. They're only competition. Besides Georgia was Alabama they were never worried about anybody else. Everybody else has had some good seasons, but LSU was always a powerhouse with Alabama in the west and now Georgia in the east.

I'm gonna push-back and say that NO LSU fan remembers darker days than '89-'94 (even though you could see the writing on the wall in '88). That six-year period is without question the worst in LSU history by a significant margin. Six straight losing seasons, compiling a record of 25-41 (.379) between two coaches (including 2-9 in '92) For comparison, the 2nd-worst stretch in LSU history was three straight losing seasons from '54-'56, going 11-18-2 (.371)... In short- don't rob me of my trauma.
