As a professional makeup artist for film and tv, I’m glad these people are finally demystifying everyone in the comments about foundation and everything else with makeup. Can’t stress this enough, I do touch ups CONSTANTLY on talent when it’s hot out or they have oily skin. I once had an actress whose face oiled every two minutes under bright hot lights. After an hour she needed a full face fix due to this. It’s called makeup, not skinup. It’s to just improve the way you look, not remove it.

Anyway, even before I got pregnant, I rarely wore makeup, to the point where I still have my first set from when I was 14. For reference, I turn 28 this year. So once upon a time I decided to technology cleanse myself for a bit (didn't watch TV, I would use my phone but not go on social media, etc.) and when I finished my cleanse I was shocked at how unreal, photoshopped, and filtered people appeared to be on social media. When you look at people in real life, even with really nice makeup they look nothing like those online. The thing I've come to learn about people is that if you truly love people, they will never look ugly to you. Right there with ya. Just have to keep working at it & be compassionate with yourself if you're feeling low. Itll never be 100% but even 1% in a positive direction is a win.. Any movement whatsoever is a win. Celebrate those. It can be therapeutic to apologize to yourself instead of getting mad at yourself. But you know you better than I do.
@Kath-Erina3 жыл бұрын
I really hope you are feeling better already. But from someone who's out of high school for 10 years now: life is so much more than beautystandards or 'fitting in'. I know it might seem like the most important thing to be like all the other girls, to look and dress as they do, to impress cute boys etc.. But it's not. Be yourself. Look deep inside yourself and follow your heart, your passion, your hobbies, your instincts and your uniqueness. You are you. And there is none else who is like you. In every aspect of your life. And that is such a beautiful thing in itself❤️ try not to worry as much bout what others might say or think. Try to be who you want to be. You are not 'unfixable'. Because there is nothing to fix. You are beautiful and perfect as you are! And I say that fully confident even though I have never seen you. I really mean it!!!! I know it's hard to figure out right now who you even are or who you want to be. But don't stress about it to much, you will grow into yourself over time. You will learn to accept yourself for who you are and see the beauty in yourself and others. Zou can overcome those insecurities. By being you. As long as you don't value friends who only like you for superficial reasons - you shouldn't care if those end up not liking YOU for being yourself. Those would not be friends you would want to keep anyways. THE SAME goes for boys!!! So, what makes your heart happy? ❤️

The key is not to think: oh I shouldn't compare myself. I know I shouldn't worry about how my eyeliner looks or that I missed those three hairs while shaving my legs. But dammit, it looks disgusting, as if I'm too dumb to shave properly. And OMG my bronzer looks ORANGE today. I really hope noone notices. I habe to get up 10minutrs earlyer tomorrow to make SURE that doesn't happen again.... Do you see where that leads? No where good. I'm sure you know these thoughts too well. Instead to REALLY break the cycle paint in the afternoon, go swimming, running, play an instrument or try a super delicious new recipe. Do what you love and enjoy. Listen to music your favorite music and breathe in some summer air while taking a walk. WHATEVER wakes your interests. Try some new hobbies or spirts. No matter what. Try to find things you love and do them. Over time you will find more joy in them, become better in what you do and will be so proud of your creations. You will slowly start to put your worth in a different area of your life and it will someday be bigger than your thoughts about standards or social expectations. They won't go away completely. But you will have a new perspective to pull from. And you suddenly find yourself having people realising you for who you are and what you like. You are not unfixable. You are you ❤️

Interesting. I thought people knew about the makeup + filter formula and that it's given makeup can be cakey and textured especially if it's been sitting on your face for hours. We just don't talk about it too much.
@kirbed94863 жыл бұрын
Perhaps not talking about it much led to this point where we are now, as in, not a lot of people understand that many “beauty gurus” use filters and things to get airbrushed looks. I’m glad we are talking about it now though, it seems to be helping many people overcome certain insecurities

Another thing they don't tell you is that in some make-up tutorial when they're "bare faced" they arent, if you have good eyesight you can notice the subtle make-up that's already on their faces.

Omg... this helped me so much, I’ve seen vids like this but never even this real, I’ve literally been thinking there’s just something wrong with my skin and the makeup I’m using, I’m so happy I saw this!

The “glassy skin” trend is just the next step. Why are we trying so hard to deny our own humanness? Skin is textured, GET OVER IT.
@someoldytaccount2 жыл бұрын
Because deep down, we all truly hate ourselves and what we've become as a species. So, instead of recognising that and improving ourself as to not repeat our mistakes, we all just lie and fabricate our lives another day? We're not just attracted to animals because they're cute, but because we want to live a seemingly pointless life where we don't have to conform to a society and their expectations of us, just like animals. Maybe furries truly are the smartest after all...

This trend (face texture) has helped me alot since at first, I was like, 'Awwh :(' and now I'm normalizing it. I always wondered WHY I had texture when I put on makeup, and WHY I couldn't make it go away. Now I know.

@justapeach88593 жыл бұрын
You can put on makeup without it looking cakey though, take it from someone whose worn foundation every day for over a decade since I was 12 because of facial scars. Don't use a lot like in tutorials, use liquid foundation and blend it well in thin layers. Don't use powder over it (ever), and use a long lasting formula.
@operacz_93273 жыл бұрын
Also hydrate your skin and find combo of cosmetics that works for you. When you will find out good combination of foundation and powder the thin layer of it shouldn't create cakyness

The same way some people will never understand rocket science, I'll never understand makeup. @aprilpinkelton43853 жыл бұрын
Yes! I had a friend always comment on my skin, what makeup I used, and how. When I showed her she said... "What you use and how works bc you have great skin" I would not say I have perfect skin bc I am humble, I just take care of it and I don't overuse foundations, powders, and concealers. If I am having a bad skin day I know that taking it on makes it so much worse and more noticeable. Less is more. She was and is a caker. She thinks that's what helps. She felt it was her product.
