What tips would you give for a first time port job?

Clean work area, clean saw, get you a notepad and mark everything down, measure everything including squish before you even take the saw apart, once you get your numbers down, decide where you want to go with the saw, use the piston ring and mark your new numbers onto the cylinder with a marker or sharpie, draw out all your ports if you are widening, and don’t grind too much too fast is the main thing, you can always take more but can’t add it back, grind slow, let the tool do the work, when finished, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE GOOD CHAMFERED PORTS! Feel them and make sure they aren’t sharp! They will snag a ring! Make sure your exhaust roof isn’t flat on top either!

@@kevinjones2667 if your saw is a common model and you can buy a cheap aftermarket cylinder, buy you one and set your good oem one to the side, port the aftermarket one until you get used to it and get it how you want so that way you don’t ruin your good cylinder. That’ll help a lot. Grinding isn’t as easy as it looks. Anyone can grind, but making them look good and perform are the big challenges
