Pretty awesome. I found one in the garbage a few days ago. Had no compression. Put a new top end on it now it starts first pull.

Yes, if it’s too lean it’ll more than likely just fall on its face or free rev and then fall on its face as soon as you stick it in wood

@@bigjake352 clutch hub or bearing could be worn and the springs could be a touch weak. But if it’s idling real low it’ll make it sound like that too sometimes. These are old saws now and most of the parts are worn out these days unfortunately so sometimes you gotta make the best of them!

I have the same exact saw !!! My Dad bought me mine when I was 19 yo. 300 Series manufactured in 1989. I think mine was bought in 90-91 and I let it sit for 27 yrs and never used it. I regret not having the cover case for the whole saw. I only buy 90 octane ethanol gas now. What is your ID#’s?

You should sell it to me. I’d love to have another. I’m currently rebuilding one that my dad used when he was a kid. It’s very sentimental to me. But it’s in no where near the shape of yours. He said they used to cut a couple hundred cord of wood a year for many years with that saw. Then it did a lot of sitting in his shed til he finally handed it to me. And I’ve been slowly getting it back to what it was. It’s awesome to see one in the shape of yours! Definitely a cool saw!

How did you keep the gasket on the muffler while you snugged it up in there?

@@BogBones slip the muffler in there, run the bolts up through, then carefully slip the gasket on the bolts and then push it all up and make sure it’s lining up, then start the bolts and make sure the gasket is still in place.

"Hot start" issue is cured by pumping the purge bulb a couplentimes before restarting a hot saw. This cycles through some cooler fuel from the tank. Those purge bulbs are also handy if you run it empty and want to reduce number of pulls to reatart.
