You don’t know how dissatisfied I was when I found out mirror mode just meant the tracks were flipped instead of being backwards. I hope in the next Mario kart we finally get that, I’ve always wanted to be able to play them backwards, and with all the stuff the last 2 games have added (glider, underwater, zero g), it’s 100% possible for them to make courses make sense backwards. Here's a fun fact about how the Tour cities, N64 Kalimari Desert, DS Peach Gardens and Piranha Plant Cove work. The tracks that have lakitu pick up the player when driving backwards are the ones where you drive backwards for the final lap (Paris Promenade, Sydney Sprint, Berlin Byways, Peach Gardens, Singapore Speedway, Athens Dash, and if my predictions are right maybe Madrid Drive). Tokyo Blur does the same, but that's because the pathway for laps 1 and 2 isn't blocked off in lap 3.

I know I haven’t commented in a year on this video, but you missed 2 possible tracks, Tokyo blur and peach gardens, the only reason why you couldn’t do them is because Lakitu picks you up, city tour tracks, kalamari desert, and peach gardens work on a lap based system, and when going backwards you take the path on the previous lap (lap 1-lap 3, lap 2-lap 1, and lap 3-lap 2). A way to keep Lakitu from pulling you away is using reverse (on switch) click and hold the B button to go backwards, which is how I did it back then when I tried it (and the DLC courses didn’t exist at the time) but it makes it much slower and difficult, but still Lakitu won’t do anything at all to stop you

You can do the Coconut Mall method on a couple of the city tracks too, like Tokyo Blur. Tho instead of bonking you hold both A and B, and just hold right to spin in circles (around like 25 times), which was the old method of breaking Lakitu. There's also a channel I found a while ago called SKaR, which does time trials of courses backwards, and they show some really crazy strats, like Dolphin Shoals, which you couldn't do. Really interesting stuff.
@Kezunten Жыл бұрын

My sister and I spent extensive time doing this in Diddy Kong Racing on the N64 as kids. Most of the levels are straightforward, but a few required strategy to get past walls and ledges. No planes of course, as that wouldn't be a challenge. The biggest takeaways: loops can't be traversed in reverse, and endless hours of T.T. saying "No no no, wrong way" will play with your sanity.
