How many EVs are there? Let’s count some!

This has to be one of the most exciting things I could do in a video. Yes, I'm walking around a car park!!! Actually, to be fair, it's even more exciting than that because in this video I walk around TWO, yes TWO car parks! This could be the most intensive and entertaining 10 minutes of your life. Ever. Don't say I didn't warn you...
But how many EVs will I find...? And what (if anything) does that tell us?

I need to walk around a few more car parks myself. It looked like a great day out Andy 🤣 I was surprised there wasn't more EVs to be honest I think I have about 10 down my road. Keep the great vids coming mate! 😎🤘

Really interesting video, Andy. I'm surprised at the lack of EVs you saw as I seem to be seeing a fair few lately, both on the roads and in car parks. The green stripe on the numberplate is a good way to spot newer EVs. I would love an EV, but don't have one yet as not able to fit a home charger where I live, and due to the cost of buying an EV in the first place. Once more EVs start making their way to the used car market, the popularity will likely increase significantly as it'll become a more affordable option for many drivers.

At Draycote Water today our VW ID.3 was the only EV present. I am seeing more EV's in my neighbourhood now than ever before. Four in the street where I live and four in the next street too. 12 months ago there were none.

It’s true. I see plenty about too (mainly Teslas of course but there are many others). I was just a little unlucky when I filmed this. I genuinely thought I’d find more. It’ll be interesting to redo this in the same car parks in a few months time 😊👍🏻

When I tootle to and from the local leisure centre/supermarket combo I've got into the habit of counting EVs. It's about a 6 minute drive, my record for EVs spotted is 11. 12 including mine.

see loads of e trons, teslas and leafs up here in the north east, even at dobbies. must have more EVs here or just our EV owners like garden centers more

I see lots of EVs out and about. Every time I go anywhere in mine, even a short distance, I see several so I think I was just unluckly! Or, as you say, EV drivers don't go to garden centres 😂

It’s funny you should say that. I did exactly that a little while ago in one of those car parks and forgot all about it. I’ll have to dig out the footage if I can find it or go and film it again. Thanks for reminding me!! 😀

In China it is so much easier, all pure EVs and large battery advanced hybrids have green number plates while petrol/diesel cars have blue number plates.

Is it possible that the customers at garden centres skew older than the average car owner? At our local ones it is always a sea of wrinklies 😆 I’m guessing EV owners are typically more middle aged than pension aged

In Norway there are about 50/50, when i go to the store.

Norway is way ahead of the UK. To be honest, this test was an unlucky one - I see lots of EVs on my travels. I was in a car park for a dog walk at the weekend and out of about 20 odd cars parked, 3 were EVs. Not as good as Norway, but we're getting there slowly! Thanks for watching.

@@TheRamblyChannel To be honest, I was at the same store a couple days ago. And then there were only ice cars, but on average its probably 30-70. But on the road, the % of ice cars goes up. Love your content, keep em coming 👍
