@@SMGJohn I know he wants to be happy with it but I'm not positive after that horrendously shakey red wing blackbird footage at 24fps with whatever other Nikon camera he was using. You shouldn't have to do slow motion non stop to avoid camera shake. It means the camera system sucks for handheld video if telephoto shots can't be stabilized reasonably well at a normal real time playback without anything more than IBIS.
@BackusCreativeImaging6 ай бұрын
@@SMGJohn Bro he probably still has the Panasonic 200mm f/2.8 MFT lens hanging around. Yes, manual focus isn't linear with the teleconverters but with the 1.4x that's 560mm equivalent with f/8.0 equivalent toneh (with f/4.0 exposure) which is only like 2/3rd stops less toneh ability than this over priced Nikon prime. A difference yes but he could have saved some money and got a GH7. Or go all out and try the Olympus 150-400. I'm sure the Nikon lens itself is good but the camera system is gonna irritate him so much.
@SMGJohn6 ай бұрын
@@BackusCreativeImaging The GH7 would be great, although I do agree that no PDAF C-AF in anything more than 1080p 150fps is a huge bummer. The Olympus 300mm lens actually works really well on the G9M2 I have despite no sync stab, the IBIS in the G9M2 actually lets me handhold the darn thing, same cannot be said about any other camera system, specially the Sony he has is far shakier then what I can do with the Oly prime telephoto. And the Olympus 150-400mm F4.5 is, its a lens I covet a lot, my God, nothing like it exist. 300 to 800mm constant aperture? And gorgeous Olympus optics? People sleep on Olympus they have 3D pop to Kingdom comes with their primes, specially the 75mm F1.8
@BackusCreativeImaging6 ай бұрын
@SMGJohn I've been manually focusing for 10 years, so the lack of PDAF at the higher frame rates isn't a big deal for me (although it will be nice when they get that sorted out on future models). Unless a critter moves really fast, I can manually focus quickly and rarely miss. But I agree with you that it's not ideal. I own the 200mm f/.8. I'm glad to know the 300mm f/4.0 stabilizes nicely on the G9 II. The Olympus 150-400 should in theory stabilize quite well with just IBIS only on the GH6, G9II and GH7. It'll probably be better than Sony's Active SteadyShot EIS on the A7SIII. My only issue is the 150-400 doesn't have a manual focus clutch, and Linear Focusing in the menu on Panasonic is only compatible with Panasonic lenses (I think). So I'd be stuck with non linear manual focus. That's the only thing keeping me on the fence with the 150-400. Aside from that, it's among the best wildlife lenses. I might try it out someday anyway!

Very handy for switching between stills and video as I prefer manual mode for video, aperture priority for stills.

When I had a Z50 and Z7II, it was harder to go back to the Z7II after having all of the controls, including playback (like EVERY other camera on the planet, including most point and shoots) on the bottom right. The Z6III having it on the right instead of the left is annoying, but manageable. Just let us remap whatever button we want to. It is nicer when they match the picture, but they could design buttons or stickers to address that. ;)

Z8 only > A7RV in videospecs and high fps + readout & media (cfexpress type A isnt really cool tbh) In terms of pure picture quality, screen/viewfinder resolution, autofocus, dynamic range, battery life, stabe, lens selection, weight and menus the A7RV is better. Overall I think its a tie.
@lilnape26046 ай бұрын
@@quintecent8903 yeah, that’s fair. I think it’s close but to me I’d take a z8. For these reasons…z8 has better autofocus for me (a7r5 falls apart with fast movement continuous tracking in my experience), I’ll take the EVF that doesn’t have blackout and doesn’t change resolution whenever af is activated. video will be a long list of advantages for Z8 we aren’t going there and I’ll allow it to be reduced to one bullet point… other Z8 advantages that are meaningful is top oled screen/ illuminated buttons (both useful at night), better color (imo), pre buffer, auto capture. The stacked sensor is the biggest differentiation. A75R is a slow, high resolution camera that excels in a a lot of areas but not everything (sports, wildlife, video). Z8 excels in quite literally everything. Half of the other stuff is debatable - picture quality (I’ll take Nikon colors, resolution advantage is obviously A7R5 as well as dynamic range by a tad ), stabe (put a long lens on and compare), weight (Sony cameras still give my hands craps, fingers rub because they are too small), menus, you like what you’re used to.
@lilnape26046 ай бұрын
I made a reply but KZbin deleted it for some reason. In short, I think you could include other Z8 advantages. And some of those stated A7R5 advantages are subjective and can be broken down more ie EVF - specs only tell half the story give me the one that has no blackout :) The main differentiator to me is sensor… which allows the Z8 to excel at everything. A7r5 sensor limits it in a few genres. That sensor limitation is reason I have found the A7R5 does NOT have better autofocus. The A7R5 falls behind by a noticeable amount with autofocus when things start moving fast. Both are great cameras. And I think it’s close

I am looking forward to Sony having a better format than s-log 3. Honestly, I LOVE S-Log 3 for certain scenarios, like shooting in broad day light. I often shoots groups of people under the shade of trees with the background fully lit by the sun and it really saves the shots from looking like utter crap. That said, in hectic shoots I sometimes forget to turn off s-log for situations where it's really destructive. In any low-contrast scenario it ruins the auto-focus and in high ISO situations it introduces a LOT of noise. So, I vote for RAW or some other Sony format that can't be called RAW for legal reasons but is better than S-Log 3 for the next A7V and A7sIV.

Great vid. Though I somehow can't see the 6K improvement on my horribly compressed youtube video😪 Unboxings are one of the stupidest vid online, but you made it entertaining at least. Thanks

Learn to enjoy life and have fun, CC it's about banter and fun and the occasional insightful critic/comment, much better content that 98% of what you can find in YT.

Hmm, think it's finally time to move on from my D5, to a Z6ii. Think I'll skip Z6iii - my big Nikons are supposed to take over from my OM-1 when the light gets very very low, but the mkiii doesn't seem to offer enough advantage there from what PtP showed.
@bailey.nt866 ай бұрын
If you're using spot focus/dynamic area on the Z6ii, it's equivalent to the D5/D850. However, all the other modes, people/animal... man it's really hit or miss. I've had the Z6ii for like 2 years. I still prefer using my D850. When I use my Z6ii with the automated autofocus modes I feel like I have to take way more photos just to get the same amount of keepers. (Especially if you're more than 15 feet away from your subjects) I do get lots of photos. Stick with the D5 for now, if you really want the Z6 line just wait like 6 months when the price drops like $500 and get the iii. When I know I have to get the shot right the first time the Z6ii is staying home, the D850 or my D3s is coming with me. They both rarely miss.

@@bailey.nt86 thanks for the advice. I am a spot and joystick autofocusser - would be nice to have decent face tracking though, but if the spot C-AF matches D5 then I'll be ok - plus more AF points, IBIS and silent shutter bonuses. I've got to rule out the Z6iii because of the DR and ISO problems Photons to Photos found - I need that low light performance from my FF camera. Z8 would be ideal but it's files are big and it's a bit pricey .

Kasey, I thought you would have shown the box more and read all the writing on the side. followed by your thoughts and feeling about the construction of the box. As you opened the box, you needed to flip through the paper materials and read them extensively. It makes tensions as we anticipate the camera, Then you pause before taking the camera out and tell a story about the future excitement said camera will bring. Hopefully, we get a more complete opening box video, but very good video, thanks for sharing your absolutely positive experience!

Amazing that the real photographers, unbox, load the batteries, insert the cards with out getting an orgasmic feeling about the card door or card slot, get out and shoot pictures and show their pictures, the reason they bough the gear, no, today 99% of KZbinrs make their money from unboxing equipment, talk crap, give opinions and direct traffic to their affiliated links, show no results and rather wear a hear piece. The new world of camera industry, not photography, in the world of art we discuss art, not the paintbrush.

For some good minutes of the video, I was worried that Nikon directly have sent this camera for you to review it. But then I understood that you bought it with your own money, so sighed in relief.

I know that some people like it, but I find the small LCD screen useless. I had it on the Sony A99 and A99ii and used it maybe two times. That information is already available elsewhere anyhow and I look through the EVF most of the time anyhow. It seems to me like something left from a bygone era of film shooting. Can't see it if your camera is high on a tripod, can't see it if you're handholding a camera. Seriously! The main downside of having that screen is that it forces the manufacturers to place some of the dials and/or buttons on the left side, which I agree is just the worst. The left side should have no buttons or perhaps a custom button or two for functions that are important but aren't used frequently. Even so, I'd rather just use a quick menu.

Have to put myself in the right frame of mind where I need to take each comment with a grain of salt. Not a camera I plan to buy since I want more than 24 Mpixels. Liked the Z9 and Nikkor lenses I bought and kept for a year but decided it was too heavy and there was no Z8 yet or this version of the Z6III. Currently shooting with several Sony bodies like the A1 and A7RV and compact C bodies for travel and an EOS R5. Guess I will wait and see what the R5 II brings. Thank you and take care.

Do you recommend Sony?
@stevenwaldstein22496 ай бұрын
@@زهيرسلمان Sony definitely has strengths I appreciate which why I’ve stayed with them. Canon, Nikon, and Fuji do too but even though I do own a APS-C body I’m committed to full frame. As I said I also like my Canon system and their L lenses but I think you won’t find low cost High Quality lenses in Canon these days ( just my personal opinion).

I'm shook that the Z6 doesn't come with a charger anymore. I got one with all of my Nikon cameras and i think it's absolutely necessary if you have to charge more then one battery...stupid idea Nikon! I always put a long arca swiss plate on all of my lenses. Then they are easy to carry an you can attach some stuff on top of it. 🙂
