I for one enjoy your videos! I last lived on a farm (family farm) 28 years ago and during the time that I left and have been in Japan, the equipment being used has changed quite drastically. Nevertheless, the sweet smell of hay will never change and your videos and others like you bring back those memories. It is what I grew up and what I still feel most comfortable with. I don't know what exactly those critics of your videos said, but I am a professional cinematographer/videographer and frequently edit videos professionally. What I seem to gather from what you said is that they are criticising content and are mostly referring to the image. Well, what I'd like to tell them is that image is only half the story and there are plenty of videos with 'cool' images but terrible audio. Your videos George are not guilty of this. In fact, you do a good job of creating establishing shots that help the viewer to quickly understand where and what they are looking at and more importantly, set a solid base for the story you are about to show us. Your narrative and explanations are also very clear and far from being boring. You also make good use of your equipment and use things like the drone in moderation. Just as with farming, choosing the best tools for the purpose intended is just as important in filmmaking. Using a drone/slider/special effects etc too much or when it does nothing to support the story is like using a rounded and curved two pronged pitchfork to carry bales or a square shaped pitchfork to gather and carry loose hay. They can all be used, but there is a reason for their shape (pitchforks or camera motion tools) and what they should be used for. If these critics don't understand this concept, then I would suggest that they aren't much of a farmer either as they are confusing popular trends with best practice.

Don’t worry about how “boring” people think your videos or titles are. I enjoy your videos specifically because they’re to the point, and showing what farming’s really like. I’ve worked in IT for nearly 10 years and I love videos of what’s actually happening in other people’s worlds, not some over-dramatised or over-happy fantasy. Keep up the good work! I’d even volunteer on your farm if I could!

George - I was thinking about if I should comment or not but the more I thought about some of the negative comments the more irked I became so here goes... You are your own man with your own style which to me comes across as Laid back, Friendly, Knowledgeable & professional together with a slightly subtle humor. You are not someone trying to be something that you are not - you are just being you and that's one of the reasons why you have 83k subs and, as I type this, 21,027 views on this single video alone. The No.1 issue with KZbin & any social media is that any one can use it and I would say that a large portion of those making neg comments have no clue about that upon which they are committing. Every Tom, Dock & knob thinks that they are an expert (none more so than ****ing Farm Sim players) and I question just how many of them have been anywhere near a farm much less worked in Ag for as long as you. Lets be real and honest, Farming is repetitive, its the nature of the beast. The same crops are grown each year albeit within a rotation and the same operations have to be performed year in and year out in order to grow those crops. That is Farming, it is the way it is and all of these wannabe keyboard experts need to understand that. What you show in your videos is real and honest UK farming as it really is. It is not Hollywood, flashy camera angles, dreadful youtube music or clickbait - its long hours, hard work, repetitive and (during busy periods) pretty full on and what you take the time to capture within your videos (people forget you need a home life too) shows all of that and more. You do not need to change a thing George as its perfect just the way it is.

Not sure if you reply to comments or not but i was watching a video of the front mount rotary rake with you baling. My question is how did you like it and would it work well in dry hay or just clog the rads?

"You lot could do with widening your roads" Yes, they could.. But a lot of people don't realize those road allowances are, in some cases, hundreds of years old. Some are MUCH older. Got any idea of the cost per mile of widening those roads by, say, 3 feet per lane? Start at millions per mile. Then add anywhere from 3x to 10x ( at least) every time a little town or hamlet goes by.. The bulk of which would be expropriation cost, compensating the landowner for their losses. Including cutting the front 10 feet off of almost all of the buildings and houses. Now relocate every single sewer, water, gas, and phone cable. Then budget a ton of money for the cost overruns from being held up in court for years as various entities ranging from historical societies to large corporations to homeowners fight all of this. And they would. They've been building roads in Britain since the Romans came over and visited for a while.. :) So the narrow roads will probably be a thing until they all become bicycle paths, and we all travel about in our hover cars....

We always made our hay at the beginning of June before it 'went to seed' if you leave it much later the hay looses its goodness, as a feed, as the seeds in the grass have gone. These days it seems that a lot of hay is made after the seed has dropped, blown, and I really don't know why. Some farmers in Essex make hay in late July and August when it has clearly all gone to seed and pretty much diminished as an animal feed. I used to see farmers walk the field sniffing odd patches of cut hay, before making it, silly as it may sound now, to make sure it was sweat and dust free. No criticism on you George, I appreciate you work for a contractor, but farmers these days don't seem to realise hay needs to be made before it goes to seed in June.
