just discovered your channel, love it! i found an old jvc miniDV camcorder in my basement, but it has the same safeguard mode error on it... is there really no other alternative to buy miniDV camcorders on ebay until I have a functional one ?

Unfortunately, for me this is the only way. I do not possess knowledge and skills like @12voltvids to repair these things.
