Blue Crabs. In this video, I'll be crabbing using two-ring crab traps rigged with pyramid weights and baited with chicken legs in West Ashley, Charleston, South Carolina. It's April 6 and the crabbing was excellent. After crabbing for about 3 hours, I ended up with quite a few nice blue crabs.
In the video, I will show how to:
-- Catch blue crabs.
-- Steam blue crabs.
Steaming Crabs
Add water to fill pot 1-2" depending on your steaming rack.
Add 1/4 cup vinegar, Old Bay to taste, Garlic Powder to taste.
Bring water to a boil.
Layer crabs on steaming rack, coating with Old Bay after each layer.
Cover and steam for 10 minutes (12-15 minutes if shells are on).
