They say you need a big pedalboard to play and sound great with modern church music, but do you really? Here i show how you can get great sounding tones playing in church with a small amount of pedals which suit the music! Also, here's my IEM mix during rehearsals.

Loving the vids. Thanks for sharing. Great tone. Just a side note. I've noticed on this song, even in our church, when a girl sings it, they dont do the octave (high-low) verse. Anyways, I think for girls this song should either be in F or G =)

Jem what would be the counterpart of ur overdrive 1 and 2 in the helix? I personally find ur snapshot 2 good but needs a little more mids. But when I go to snapshot 3 it goes to tubescreamer territory and sounds like Im ripping a solo. I wanted to change ur chorus to another drive stage what would u recommend I should do?

Tone is mainly in the fingers bro! Even if you bought these exact pedals you wouldn’t sound the same tbh but you’d get in the ball park! Everyone has a unique sound because we are all unique! The Helix does an awesome job of giving ambient church sounds and would save you lots and lots of money in the long run!!!

@@dan82dare pedalboard looks crazy cool and crazy expensive lol but ima check it out thanks man 👍 i’ll also try to work on my fingers too because i recently got moved from bass to guitar at my church and i definitely think my fingers come into play a lot now that i think abt it especially bc i mainly use bar chords which is tbh a bad habit and wish i could learn more postures and techniques on the guitar. thanks for the advice man

@@jediaelparedes4783 Learn to play the string not the guitar - John Mayer It would benefit you spending the money on some lessons rather than expensive pedals or look up the caged system and learn about inversions and triads to get you going Check out some of Jems vids where he’s using the Helix and see what you think of that tone! You won’t find much difference if any! 👍🏻

@@jediaelparedes4783 KZbin is full of resources for you just search for the caged system and then learn all your positions and then look into triads and learn all the chords you can play down the neck. After that buddy look into learning scales such as the major and minor and then pentatonic scales in all positions and then just practice, practice, practice as much as you possibly can!! Learn about vibrato, string bending, sliding into notes, hammer ons, pull offs as this is what makes the difference in your playing! Play over backing tracks for songs you’d play on the Sunday in whatever key which you would also find on KZbin! Most importantly play from the heart brother!!
