Another very common question relates to exactly how much we should be eating when on the Spud Fit Challenge. People are so afraid that they will over eat and that "all the carbs will make them fat".
Allow me to explain...

So i just started this potato diet thing and honestly, im loving it. I used to go to jack in the box, get a large bacon ultimate cheeseburger (2 patties, 4 slices of cheese, and bacon for those who dont have JIB) large fries, large soda, and two tacos and id still be hungry. But i swear to god with these plain potatoes i max out at two potatoes, aprox 300 calories. There were more calories in the large soda than my biggest meal of the day. Ive been doing this for literally 4 days and ive lost 9 lbs! 9! In four days! Im sure im going to slow down but the person that turned me onto this diet said she was losing about a pound a day. My pants already fit better and i honestly feel fantastic! It really is the craziest thing.

I have always had the food addiction going on. I’ve been doing mostly potatoes for a few weeks. I love it. I love mashed potatoes the most. The pain in my hands is gone and I can wear my ring again. I’m so close to my ideal body weight and love that I don’t have to weigh and measure my food and that I just don’t think about food 24/7 as I did before. Love this way of eating!!

Hello Again, I just wanted to touch base and share that I'm still eating just potatoes every 3 days, And a combination of Kale, Broccoli, Carrots,Brussel Sprouts for the other 4 days of the week. Adding the combination of whole foods has "stopped" the weight loss completely. So you were Right! adding other foods will stop weight loss. But, the unexpected silver lining, During this time of consistent weight. My looser skin, is now tightening to my new size. By maintaining my one month weightloss of 40Lbs. My loose skin has retracted back into my body and given me youthfulness, I'm making films weekly on my channel, I work in the Entertainment Industry on camera as a badguy or monster. I didn't follow you on your journey when you did your only potatoes for a year. But now, I'm going back and watching some of your older videos and they are very helpful. I like the poster who said he eats only potatoes for 3 days a week, then for the other 4 he adds certain vegetables. I've been going back and forth between Dr. McDougall's 3 programs: SS, MWL, and MM. I find I do better on MM because it's more similar to what you did than the other 2 programs. Anyway, wanted to say thank you for your efforts to make a difference in the lives of others.

She says it's because someone else is making them for me, that she just boils them. Hard to believe that my mind can make that much difference, but I guess so. Now I try to make my meals special, and they actually tastes better. Those little purple potatoes are reeeeally good. I have some weight to go, so I'm giving this a try. I just ate about 7 potatoes a. day for 3 days and lost 4lbs, and I was definitely not craving more food. It is easy to feel full on potatoes. I ate them with salt, pepper and garlic powder (no oil or butter). I also made a very chunky potato onion celery soup (also no oil or butter)which was very filling and tasty, and that also seemed to have a similar effect. I think if I ate like that for one or two days a week I would definitely feel satisfied. I also seemed to have more energy.

I watched everything that i could find on the Internet about this "Potato diet", Then i saw the "Warrior Diet" and liked it's idea of waiting 16 hours. But instead of consuming one meal with any calorie food, what if i made it extreme and ate just potatoes after that 16 hour wait. It's been exactly 7 days, i did workout everyday for at least 2 hours continuously. On the 3rd day, i felt drained of energy, laid on bed longer than usual, was slow and lathargic all day. The 4th day, more energy returned, my body finally stopped protesting and used my bodyfat for energy. The 5th day was a cakewalk, full of some magic energy from years of stored fat reserves, today is the 7th day, i feel amazing, im down 15lbs...i made a healthy eating video 7 days ago, featuring my size of 235lbs. Today, one week into the "extreme warrior diet" i weigh 220lbs, todays video shows glimpses of that loss ...thank you for the inspiration in all your videos, they are all motivating me daily. ~Prince :)

Now I'm on my second week and Im adding a little bit of ketchup and spicy sauce (sometimes). I only drink water and milk. If you used condiments, is harder to loose the weight. Drinking plain hot water will help when using condiments. It gets easier on the second week. The more time it passes, the easier it gets. I may go for a full month. GOOD LUCK!

Great video Some of the things people think are pretty funny. Do you worry about eating too much meat (you should). It is exceptionally difficult to overeat on a medium glycemic plant based whole food like potatoes. The same is true of beans and most whole food plant based foods. if you also include non-starchy vegetables then it's almost impossible to overeat. Now if you started cooking them in oil and covering them in salt that's a different story.

@@SpudFit I'm now 45kg/99lbs. This week I'm doing my own challenge. I'm in a group of people from a beer drinking football culture trying to diet to lose weight. I don't drink but follow the NRL so I'm in there. I get shouted down when I said diets don't work and eat potatoes even quoting your FAQ page hahahahaha. One person who has always shouted down at me put up a confused post of dieting sucks, his weight went down 5kg to go up 7kg. So I reached out offering a challenge similar to yours with a slight difference. He won't take it up but I am for the fun of it. The challenge is for the next 6 days I'm going to eat potatoes plus add one vegetable and one fruit. I've chosen corn and apples. So I'm going to do this challenge of only having 3 foods with potatoes being the dominant one for the fun of it and to prove a point to someone who's struggling with addiction how to handle all this. I'm going to see how good it works and also see my financial expenditure. I only have water plus one beverage anyways so I'm doing well there and I told this person only one type of beverage and no more of two of that per day either tea, coffee, hot chocolate, beer or wine - but can't be soft drink, sports drinks, processed juices or glasses of milk. I follow you on Instagram (257matt). Love your work.

I think if you are about 23-30 stone you may need 2.5-3.5Kg of potato a day and gradually reduce them. There gets a point where you can eat too many but at first if you are truely a food addict, it doesn't matter. Binge of the potato and then if it is not addictive you'll come off real addictive food (meat, sugar, dairy) and feel less hungry. Once the craving have decreased reduce the carbs. Check on internet how many calories you need for your weight and activity level.

Overthinking. You don't need to worry about how many calories you need to eat, you don't need to figure out what's right for you. Just eat as much as you feel like, as often as you feel like it and your body will figure everything out for you.

I noticed that on my 6 and 7 day, wasnt as hungry, went down to one potato a day, but i had tons of energy. Tomorrow is day 8 for me, my diet is just a baked potato, fresh from the fridge, because you need to let the starch crystalline in fridge, after you cook it, to make the starch into a resistance starch. That's clearly the key to it working as expected.
@sungazer888
@sungazer888 5 жыл бұрын
AsmrSleepCenter I didn’t think about that thanks. Did you reheat some? I have some potato flour that I used to mix in water for that purpose before I found the potato diet
@asmrsleepcenter5567
@asmrsleepcenter5567 5 жыл бұрын
@@sungazer888 Yes, i reheated the potatoes after i let the starch crystalline. From some research on this, if you reheat the potatoes and then cool them, they build more resistant starch. The more times you heat and cool a potato, the greater the resistant starch becomes. The key to what's working for me, was to really monitor what's in my condiments, that I'm consuming with my potatoes. I tossed out all the ketchups & mustards and purchased organic versions made with natural sugars or no sugar. Because its pointless to eat a healthy potato and slather it with sugar filled condiments. Make sure to toss out anything with high fructose corn syrup in it. Most importantly, there is no failure in doing this, you will lose water weight before the fat is consumed as energy. As long as you dont cover your potato in cheese and fat and eat it, your body is going to miss the fat intake and go use those fat reserves its been saving all these years. Don't give up! If anyone wants to know more, I could use more subscribers :)

Great explanation Spudfit. I started today, ate mine with some jalapeno mango salsa on the potatoes. Only 10 calories per 2 tbsp. I ended up eating about 5-6 lbs(?) of potatoes and the entire jar of salsa ; 13 servings for 130 calories. I feel like I over ate. I ate ALOT of potatoes. Are low cal condiments ok in your book?
