When I was stationed in Germany in the mid 80s there was an E-5 who couldn't pass the p.t. test among other things. He was also a Viet Nam vet. Then when I was at Ft. Stewart (Georgia) there was E-6 who went in front of the board with his zipper down. We called the army achievement medal the army acheesement medal.

In the reserves you don't don't go to a physical board, that's because then you'd have to go on Orders to attend an in person board. Because a lot of Reserve Soldiers have busy lives they do what is called a Paper Board, where your packet goes up in your place to a promotion board. I recently did it in the Reserve. My colleges credits gave me a huge edge compared to my fellow soldiers in my unit

I ended my contract in the reserves and I will say you need good PT and rifle scores. I maxed correspondence courses, had a deployment under my belt, and a letter of recommendation from the SGM in my packet. The letter, theoretically, didn't make a difference but I got a great board score. Also, make sure your Form 2A is correct, and if it's not get with your Unit Administrator (UA).

How does a Masters degree weigh in as an E-4?
@507onsight3 жыл бұрын
Wow I noticed that 17 echo only needs 40 points how is that? Please school me Im a proud father of a new enlisted soldier.🇺🇸
@christopherchaos3 жыл бұрын
This happens when an MOS is in need of soldiers in that rank. So if they are short on sergeants or staff sergeants in the MOS of a 17E they will drop the points really low to get people promoted and then raise the points when they start getting the numbers they need.

If you enlist with a bachelors degree as an e4, are you able to use that degree for any future promotion points
@christopherchaos8 ай бұрын
Kind of. Technically if you used your degree to come in as an E4 then you used your education already and would need additional credit hours that you earned while you are already in to get points for E5 or E6. That part is pretty tricky with how the regulation works for credit hours to promotion points.
