How Many Shuffles Does it Take to Fully Randomize a Deck of Cards?

As a single deck pick and pay 21 dealer in Las Vegas 40 years ago the shuffle went ...three rifs, a three-way strip, three more rifs and a cut by the customer ..burn the first card to the bottom. It didn't matter if the deck was new or not.

I play a lot of Crazy Eights. You must match the suit or the face card value. This clumps up the suits:: 4clubs produces more clubs until the number is matched, say 4 of spades, then spades clump up. etc. When you're done the deck looks all clumped up with lots of each suit and each number: Say four 10's and so on. When I shuffle 7 times the cards are still heavily clumped up. It takes way more than 7 shuffles to spread out all that clumped up mess. I take a couple of minutes to "Randomize" the cards, break up the suits and face values, it isn't easy. Then I shuffle 7 times. I shuffle in different proportions. Another game that clumps up card values is single solitaire. It's about the same as Eights. So something isn't right in the "7 shuffle" math.

If it takes 7 riffle shuffles to make a single deck random, how many riffle shuffles would be needed to make a 6 deck shoe in Blackjack random?

@@rodneykantorski736 btw tried out the 7 riffle (after complaints from my playmates that it's not random enough) and I end up getting 2 of a kind every 7 or so cards. Like 2 8s alongside and further down 2 Kings. Something like that normal? I'm am a newbie at riffling and my cards are pretty old but in good condition.
