On cold days when we were kids we'd put our sandwiches wrapped in foil on the classroom radiator and we'd have ourselves a hot lunch.

Enjoy your videos Blackie. Retired after 35 years behind the wheel. Old meat hauler in the 80's. Would use the military mess kit, wired on top of the engine, place steak in folded foil, small potato in foil too. About an hour or so and dinner was done.

Yeah when I was in the Army in a front line transportation unit a bunch of use would tape our MRE's using 100 mile an hour tape (duct tape) to the over flow reservoir of our engine's radiator to heat up our MRE's or taped them between the radiator and radiator frame. top of the radiator to heat them up too. But the reservoir was easier to get to.

Canteen cup with hot water. Every once in a while flip the food packet. While serving in the Marine Corps, out in the desert in a non air conditioned HMMWV MREs and water bottles got pretty warm. Whenever we went to supply for mres, they would open a pallet which held boxes of 1-12 or 13-24 so we would end up cases of the same 12 meals. We would get tired of that selection and the next time for resupply we may get the same cases or a set of the others. MRE have there place, but 20 years later I don't have any desire to have them for anything other than emergency supplies.

You can heat it with a candle. Folks out west who have hot springs well you have immersion ready to go while relaxing. You can warm a lot of food wraped in foil on the engines of older vehicles. New ones have a plastic cover in the way. I have thought of building an oven for small items and connect it to the outside of a catalytic converter. I deemed it to hard to manage. Needs someone more ambitious than I am to perfect.

🤓 Calcium chloride. When you mix calcium chloride with cold(ish) or cool water it creates an exothermic reaction. - I’m not likely to do this, but it would work for making the MRE a little warmer.

@@blackoracle69 so I guess you can get temperatures northwards of 200 degrees with calcium chloride, so I would recommend some moderation.
