As I have said several times on this channel, coffee is good for your health and protects your liver. Coffee induces autophagy in our body, taking care of all cells and enhancing longevity. Regular coffee consumption is associated with a reduced risk of kidney disease, as well as diseases such as hyperuricemia, diabetes, skin cancer and Parkinson's disease. For those who cannot tolerate coffee, it is good to know that these benefits are achieved equally effectively with decaffeinated coffee.
Obviously, these data come from observational studies, not prospective studies. In this case, however, people who drank coffee had a worse lifestyle than people who did not drink it and yet lived longer! People who regularly consumed coffee in these studies smoked more, exercised less and generally followed a worse lifestyle. Nevertheless, they lived longer! Those experts who have dealt with these studies even a little know that coffee helps longevity.
Coffee consumption reduces the likelihood of death by 13%. In this way, we have calculated that when someone consumes coffee daily for their entire adult life, they will gain an additional year of life. In case caffeine causes you excitement or disrupts your sleep, remember that consuming decaf helps just as much or even more. So the benefits of coffee are not from the caffeine. Coffee contains over a thousand bioactive substances. One of the most well-studied is chlorogenic acid, which strongly induces autophagy.
Unfortunately, the casein found in dairy products binds a significant part of the chlorogenic acid and polyphenols contained in coffee, reducing the benefits it can offer. This is an important reason to avoid combining coffee with milk. Another thing that also greatly reduces chlorogenic acid is when coffee is roasted to the point where it becomes very dark. For example, in Starbucks coffee, 90% of the chlorogenic acid has been destroyed. Prefer coffees that are lightly or medium roasted.
