It’s interesting how starting the day with discipline, like Marcus Aurelius did, can shape our mindset. The idea of waking up early and journaling resonates a lot with many, as it sets a peaceful and productive tone. I wonder, though, do you think the value of journaling is in the act itself, or in the reflections that come over time? Would love to hear your thoughts on how this practice impacts you personally.

It's inspiring to hear how Ryan's introduction to Marcus Aurelius had such a meaningful impact on your life. Stoic teachings have a powerful way of guiding us through tough times. What do you think would happen if we approached every challenge, big or small, with the same mindset Marcus had at the start of his day? Could that shift our perspective on daily struggles?

It’s amazing how powerful a mentor can be in guiding us through tough times. Marcus Aurelius’ teachings really offer a deep sense of clarity and resilience, don’t they? When you reflect on how he began his day, do you find that any particular aspect of his routine resonates with your own daily habits or mindset? How do you think we could apply his morning discipline in our modern lives to tackle challenges more effectively?

It's inspiring to hear how Ryan introduced you to Marcus Aurelius and how his teachings helped you navigate through difficult times. My notes and favorite takeaways: 1. Wake up early - Time to do what my nature demands 2. Journaling - Wherever he woke up, spending a few minutes on this spiritual and mental exercise is critical. 3. Physical exercise and then a cold bath to “wash away the dust of everyday life” 4. Do everything with justice and without complaint 5. Do the hardest thing first. As if its the last thing you do. 6. How you spend your mornings and evenings is how you spend your life

It's great to see you reflecting on Marcus Aurelius' morning routine! The idea of starting the day with purpose and physical exercise really resonates. It's interesting to think about how small daily practices, like journaling and facing the hardest tasks first, could shape our mindset. Do you believe that setting a strong morning routine is essential for a successful day, or is there room for flexibility depending on life’s circumstances? It would be fascinating to hear how you balance these Stoic practices with the unpredictability of daily life.

It's amazing how certain messages or routines can come at the right time, isn't it? Marcus Aurelius' morning practices really give us a chance to reflect on how we can start our own days with intention. What do you think would happen if we applied his approach consistently for a week? How might that shift our mindset or reactions throughout the day?

My friend and I send your videos back and forth to each other. I have your letter, honestly when you start to truly embody these concepts you see the change almost like a wave. Like that wave of cultivated fortune you'll receive a wave of misfortune. But there is no difference if you can observe success in the same way as failure or loss. They are both chances to uplift yourself and provide a higher existence to yourself and to others.

It's inspiring to see how you connect Stoicism with finding inner happiness. Marcus Aurelius' morning routine emphasizes self-reflection and mindfulness, two powerful tools for cultivating contentment. I wonder, do you think that the practice of starting the day with purpose can influence how we approach challenges throughout the day? How do you think we can adapt Stoic principles to create more meaningful moments in our daily lives, even in the midst of chaos?

How I start my day is infinitely richer as I wake up I drink lots of water before a tea/mocha then the caffeine hits when I'm already working on something like journaling today's thoughts from yesterday's ideas or making a drum beat on the computer and setting that up for when I get home and I can adapt it to the next phase of the tune. Just doing that simple thing in the morning FILLS ME with positive vibes even though my boss might be a bit shitty with me I don't care because the DOPAMINE I have FILLED myself with before even driving to work has kept me from feeling depressed and anxious about dealing with annoying, frustrating and obnoxious fools. I summed up my courage and managed my temperance. If you wanna help others in the world first one must help themselves. I feel unstoppable. #stoic ❤

Its truly inspiring to hear how youve shaped your morning routine to set the tone for your entire day. Starting the day with purpose, whether its through journaling or creating music, seems like a powerful way to center yourself before facing the challenges ahead. Its amazing how such small, intentional actions can have a profound impact on our mindset, helping us to manage external stress more effectively. It sounds like youre embodying a core Stoic principlefocusing on whats within your control, like your actions and mindset, and not letting external events or people dictate how you feel. Marcus Aurelius often wrote about cultivating inner peace through daily practices, just like the ones youre incorporating into your routine. How do you stay consistent with your morning rituals, especially on days when things might not go as smoothly as planned?

Great insights, but I would emphasize the need for critical thinking and individual experimentation in everything. Like in the last point, tackling the hardest thing first. I've tried this, but it didn't work for me. I can understand why it would work for some. But for myself, I like to gather momentum in the morning with smaller tasks and then tackle the biggest thing, and then maybe some smaller tasks again to finish the day. Being a philosopher isn't about doing and thinking exactly like other philosophers and great minds, but to take their advice and find your own way.

It's great that you enjoyed the summary of Amor Fati! This concept really speaks to accepting everything, even the challenges and uncertainties, as part of the journey. In terms of career uncertainties, embracing Amor Fati can help us view setbacks or unclear paths as opportunities for growth rather than obstacles. It's about shifting from resistance to acceptance, knowing that whatever comes can contribute to our development. How do you think we can balance this mindset with the practical need for career planning and goal setting?

It's great to see that you're connecting Amor Fati with career uncertainties. This concept, which encourages embracing everything life throws at us, can be incredibly powerful when applied to the challenges we face in our careers. Instead of resisting the uncertainties or setbacks in our professional journey, we can learn to accept them as part of the process, which can actually free us from the stress of trying to control everything. How do you think we might shift our mindset to see career challenges not as obstacles but as opportunities for growth?

If you must rise during the evening because you do the night shift, rising and not hitting snooze is what matters, not the sun or moon. Seneca, I think, had the routine of rising at ten, which is late morning. Then he went into his routine. Build your routine around your duty (job), not if the moon is out when you wake.
