0:52 - 1. Design Your Life
1:48 - 2. Meditate On Mortality
3:13 - 3. Take Wondering Walks
4:15 - 4. Love Your Fate
5:40 - 5. Think About Failure
6:41 - 6. Wake Up Early
7:27 - 7. Make Time To Read
8:12 - 8. Stop Putting Stuff Off
Good habits make success possible. Whether you’re trying to get a promotion, meet new people, or look and feel healthy, a regimen of good habits is the surest path forward. If you don’t have good habits, everything becomes a constant struggle as you fight against yourself.
The Stoics knew this. How do you think Marcus Aurelius ruled over the largest empire on earth? How did Epictetus endure and triumph over slavery? How did Seneca become the greatest writer of his era? How do you think Cato led troops in battle and to victory?
How do your habits stack up? How much closer to your goals would you be if you adopted the habits you’ve always wanted a year ago? Six months ago? Six days ago? Think about how much different your life would be.

I walk at least four miles per day, I do it for enjoyment, to see something other than work, and I do it to break the cycle. I also run three times a week on top of the walks, long distances where fitness allows. These things allow me to think, allow me to strategise, and to see through the problems I face. My best decisions in work and business are made in those walking, running events. It's a funny one.

what i like about this sort of ancient wisdom, is that considering the life these guys had you know it's designed to manage even the actual shittiest life situations. Because personnally, whenever i hear a motivational speaker explain to me why i'm doing life wrong, part of me can't help but think negative stuff in the back of my head like "this guy is being a condescending know-it-all, some of us don't have his time and money or the mental health to do all the things he does, some people have extremely anxiety inducing responsabilities and no time to take care of themselves or their projects, I bet he isn't even that perfect off camera/outside of Instagram" But when the advice come from an older guy, leader of ancient Roman armies, or a litteral slave, at a time period where war, famine, slavery, torture was absolutely common, it makes it much easier to pay attention and be convinced by the advice because no matter how shitty and difficult your life is, it's very unlikely to be harder than theirs.

I find this information fascinating! I have been spending the last 3 days in the hospital with my 80 year old mother who fell and broke her hip. Carbonated water is going on the grocery list as I will be her care giver! I love this information! Thank you so much, Dr. Berg! You are literally a life saver!❤️❤️😎❤️
