Bc if not this particular subject doesn't apply to you because it takes "work" for actors to get to the point to where they can "cry on demand" which can be tortuous. Have you not heard about Shelley Devall when she was in the movie, "The shining" her director literally mentally & emotionally tortured her to get her to react to the scenes they needed for her to react to in that movie. Also the definition of Torture means "the action or practice of inflicting severe pain or suffering on someone as a punishment or in order to force them to do or say something." There have been plenty of horror stories describing how director's would push their actors to the extreme to get the reactions they need.... what do you call that? Constantly bringing up bad or sad thoughts take a toll on your mind, body, & soul.

What helped me ‘cry on cue’ what a genuine attachment to the script. I had an exercise with a partner where I had to look at him and do a rather funny script- but the premise was he was my dead brother here for a visitation dream and we both knew when I wake up we’ll never see each other again. I had to learn this for a monologue I was doing in Theater at one point. Honestly, I learned by memorizing how my body felt when I felt like crying; watching movies with topics yk will make you cry is the best way. I’d assume it’s slightly different for mixing different emotions with crying tho. Learning the sensations you feel when you are experiencing emotions is really beneficial when attempting to improve your acting
