Superstar Saga was the first video game I actually played. My older brothers had played other Mario games before, and it used to be a “boys only” thing (by decree of my older brothers), but I asked if I could play their game, and the actually helped me set up an emulator on a tablet I had been allowed to buy, and the first game they hooked me up with was Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga. I absolutely love this game not only for being my very first, but for being so good! It was my first impression of how Mario and Luigi interacted with each other and the various other characters they could talk to. It also made me fall in love with the Firebrand and Thunderhand abilities (I really want to see those used again) and the idea that they could jump on each other and smash each other with hammers to preform amazing attacks that completely obliterate opponents! I believe this game molded my perception on the Mario franchise as a whole, and I’m so grateful for it!

I got really far into this game, but then had to restart because I got stuck. Both times I got stuck in the Ice Castle where you hit the box which makes a bridge appear. I use Luigi to set Mario on fire, but every time, they stop and jump in the middle of the bridge. I watched a playthrough and it looks like I did everything right. One time I got through it, but then I accidently skipped the part to save after the bridge, so I died in the middle of the boss fight due to my AA batteries dying!
