As a woman with ADHD, perimenopausal, and studying a psychology degree, I'm totally at the mercy of my hormones! One week I can write an essay and cruise through it, the next week my working memory is so shot that I can't string two sentences together. Thank goodness I have some amazing lecturers who understand. HRT helps to a point but but can only do so much. Oestrogen is so, so important❣️

Oh do I empathize! Progressing through perimenopause, I thought I was developing dementia; my ADHD symptoms increased exponentially! For 5 years I begged my PCP, my gyn, as well as an endo, for HRT to no avail, (always with the admonishment: "You don't want to go on that, you'll develop a blood clot" or "youll get cancer!") Meanwhile with the continuing decrease of estrogen, as I hit menopause, which I'm almost at the two year mark, I'd walk around the house like a zombie, never able to get anything done. Also, although I have great health insurance, they cover very little when it comes to HRT. I eventually did my own research, refused to take no for an answer and presently use a generic HRT patch. One of the docs in the group with my PCP advised that I need to go to a HRT "boutique," as she called it, bc most PCPs know very little about HRT and these boutiques specialize in that type of treatment. My present HRT patches have definitely helped, but I don't think I've found the best dosage combo yet. I have contacted some of these "boutique" places; however, they are expensive and not covered by insurance. (Edit: Btw, congrats on your endeavor to complete a degree in Psych. I finished my Bachelor's as an adult. Best wishes to you!)

I'm curious if Bioidentical Hormone Replacement would have the same effects. Thoughts? Is there any clinical evidence?
