How Monaco Became the Richest Country in the World #shorts

A dwarf nation becoming so rich that it completely disables taxes, making it perfect for rich people to move in, in turn making the nation even richer is honestly an ingenious tactic.
@kiki_ci3880 Жыл бұрын
Yes but i hope the native people are okay with that and able to live comfortably.
@Flowerchi222Ай бұрын
It seems to have started off innocently. Sort of like insurance.
@user-cd6dd3ye8k25 күн бұрын
@@kiki_ci3880 Uh...depends on how you view it. Most of the "natives" are not ultra wealthy. Because like most of the world, the vast majority of the common/average man is common/average. So when the elite of the globe swarm into the nation, the normals get pushed out. Gentifrication on steroids as you will. Its not malice (at least, its not needed). Just the nature of economics and market forces. That said, when you can more more money mopping a multi milionaire's yacht for a day than most Frenchies can earn in week, its not that bad a deal. Except it most definitely an unequal society and the average native is basically pushed out of Monaco proper anyway.

I had such a wonderful time in Monaco, just please remember if you go the casino is not like Las Vegas casinos. You dress in evening wear and you are not loud in any way. It's about quiet elegance. They will kick you out if you're being too loud or or not let you in if you're just in jeans and T-shirts. Dress like you belong there. Also Jacques Cousteau has an aquarium there which is very cool.

Monaco didn't become independent in 1861. It has been independent since 1297. However, Roquebrune & Menton broke off in 1861, leaving the country with its current borders. And yes, it was broke.

Money laundering, the accumulation of wealth through criminal activities, and tax evasion from other countries are central to what happens behind the scenes in Monaco. Known for its secrecy and tax haven status, the principality often attracts those looking to hide illicitly gained wealth. The most powerful families at the top often take a share of these illegal profits, reinforcing their influence and control. This shadowy financial activity is a significant aspect of what Monaco’s reputation in certain circles is built upon.

Say it louder 👏🏻 People tend to forget that or think that it doesn’t matter…but well it does. That is why I struggle with really liking Monaco (I live in France near it), I mean it’s really the kind of place that I love with the effervescence, elegance, yachts, buildings (F1) etc but behind all that is what you listed

@@bayaadele you're just salty that you have to pay income taxes if you work there.

@@luxraider5384 I don’t care 😂 First of all I’m still a minor okay so I don’t pay taxes *yet*. Then when it’ll be time for me pay them, I will, cause I’m a honest person (I’m not going to leave for Dubai or idk what sh!t). And if I have to pay some in Monaco in the future (yeah cause it’s my dream to live there), I’ll pay them. End of the story. It just shows that the French in Monaco (and I think the Americans too) don’t come there to pay less taxes and that we’re mostly clean, unlike 90% (the 10% are the real monégasques) of the others living in the principality.
