Nobody is saying that, are they? Carpets are integral to Muslims because they are used during prayers. Hygiene and cleanliness, taking your shoes off indoors is beyond important; all this means carpets were always used and techniques and designs developed. You can see this all over the Muslim world.

I have four made by my aunt in the 70s. My most prized possesions. They look so good in a modern interior too. Guests (westerners) are always impressed by them.
