Fun fact: The reason Corvettes can fit 6.2L and even 7.0L engines in such a small and low space is because of the engine design. The LS/LT V8 engines are as compact as many 4 and 6 cylinder engines due to being a pushrod/OHV setup with a single cam inside the block. They use space very efficiently. The engines are ridiculously lightweight and small compared to many V8 engines. That's why you see them swapped into everything. Small and compact, powerful, reliable, cheap and easy to work on.

Another fun fact. The iron block LS based truck engines from the 4.8 to the 6.0 are lighter than the famous inline 6 engines from japan

I think a lot of people just look at the displacement and assume that all engines must be physically massive the higher the displacement. As OP pointed out, LS and LT’s are very small despite being 5.7-7 liters. Meanwhile, Ford’s 5.0 Coyote might have a smaller displacement, but physically speaking, it’s a huge motor due to it being a DOHC.

TIL you need a separate license to drive a manual transmission car in Japan. A lot of Vettes, Challengers, and Mustangs are automatic in the US as well. Another thing to point out at the end is I can confidently say that the sheer amount of Japanese cars in America is waaaay more than the amount of American cars in Japan. American cars in Japan, especially larger cc ones due to the road taxes are very rare. The good thing is Japan doesn’t have the 25 year import bull**** it’s just mainly due to the lack of customers that are willing to pay for the taxes, we will most likely see the number of customers rise though a lot in the near future. I can see why these shops are getting quite the amount of love.

The Shelby GT350 only came with a manual. The 2016 was the first full production year. Original new limited production was in 2015. The best year and platform was the 2020 GT350R (track spec). Low production and the only one tuned and tweeked with parameters based on the 2020 GT500 build. Good luck finding someone who will sell. I bought one new instead of a 911. Just the sound is enough to make it special, and the 8250rpm stock rev limit.

You have a 350? That's fucking cool, are you planning to supercharge it?
@tommieb5676 ай бұрын
@@AnAncientCatBoi No mods. Unlike said online, the car has enough torque and power to get you in trouble if not respected. I bought it for a track car, but because the 2020 GT350R engineering is different from all other 2015-2019 specs it became a collector car within months. Greatly appreciating. I still do spirited driving on the streets, but no track use. I looked at the Porsche GT3 but for the price, I can give up a tenth or two in performance. Besides, the sound and drive feel is better, to me than the GT3. If you have an opportunity to drive one you will understand before you get to third gear. In my opinion, the 350 and the 350R are miles apart even though the interior is relatively the same except for materials and colors.

I just bought a 2025 Honda Odyssey last week for $53K and it's got a 3.5L V6 that makes 280 HP. I traded in my 2016 F150 3.5L Ecoboost that made 365 HP. Modern engines make a lot of HP for their displacement these days. Before My F150 I had a 1999 Dodge Ram truck that had a 5.9L V8 that only made about 292 HP. And it was sluggish at lower RPMs. Wouldn't really kick in until Tach hit around 3000 rpm or so.

Yeah so before the 5 litre V8 engine that they use now in the Mustang.. they used a 4.6 litre V8.. which was common in cars such as the Ford Crown Victoria, Ford F150.. even the older Mustangs (like the 90s generations) used this engine.. (to say it was used in literally everything..)
@Icejay9326 ай бұрын
The 4.6 in that generation mustang GT (2005-2010) is actually a 3 valve per cylinder engine while the crown Vic’s and older 90’s mustangs used the 4.6 with 2 valves per cylinder. Bottom end is the same but the heads are of course different and the 3v mustang did about 300 hp while the 2v did about 260

Johnny O'Connell used to drive for Corvette back in the day then switched over to Cadillac afterwards, and set the world record for fastest lap time on the Nurburgring Nordschleife for the Cadillac CTSV. I used to live in GA just 10 minutes away from Road Atlanta and Johnny would come into the liquor store inworked at and gave me rides in his older Corvettes and in his custom CTSV with like 7** something HP. Needless to say he is an awesome guy. You mentioned "Officer Dan" or Dan Brockett in a video previously from Whiskey Garage, I got to meet him during Formula Drift 2013 at Road Atlanta and he was the most funniest and humble guys ever, we hung out a few times during Road ATL much love to Officer Dan the Man❣️❣️❣️

Chevys engines are actually considered small blocks, and since they're pushrod and not overhead cam, their height profile is quite short. They make tones of power in the right configuration.

I never got into the whole importing thing but knew someone who imported the skyline.

Hi Sammit & Sammit's wife, if you really wanted a Dodge Challenger then you should get one from a friend here in the USA. Dodge Challengers are like a dime a dozen over here in the USA & you can get them so cheap here. Same goes with Ford Mustangs as well. I personally live just 15 miles from the Port of Tacoma in Washington State. I would to love to work with someone in Japan to get cool cars, & I would have no problem helping acquiring USA cars for you all. There is an Importer called "the Import guys" about 2 hours away from me(close to the Canada border). The owner is Dylan Cain, super legit importer & shop here in Washington State. I actually just bought a 1999 Honda Accord CF3 from Dylan 2 weeks ago. My dad has a 2003 5spd Ford Mustang Mach 1 in the color Azura blue(original owner), roughly 150,000 miles, pretty high miles but the car is all OEM including the original wheels still. I wonder if I could get something cool to trade from Japan for the 2003 Ford Mustang Mach 1? Anyways, super cool channel, I love your super cute family as I also have a child who is 1 & 11 months old. At the moment I have a 2024 Tesla Model Y, the 1999 RHD Honda Accord I mentioned, 1995 JZX90 twin turbo Toyota Mark II Tourer V, & a s13 Nissan 240sx vert. Anyways, let me know if you want to contact Dylan Cain from the Import Guys, they have a website & a Facebook if you want to check them out as well. Let me know if I can help you over here in the USA & maybe you guys can help me over there in Japan. thank you & keep up the great work.

Actually, those prices are probably a bit better than here. But as you stated, that does not include shipping, transport, and other fees. The challenger, charger, and Chrysler 300 are all bassed off an early 2000's Mercedes platform, and they haven't changed much in 20+ years. Great video, and it's very interesting to see someone that isn't 100% on details. I have never been into JDM stuff until I saw Adam lz ripping z-roy at an event and started following him. I've grown old with muscle cars from the 60s and early 70s and full-size pickup trucks and luxury cars (Cadillac and Lincoln). I always thought of Japanese cars as front wheel drive sub 100hp cars way too small for me. Now I've been shopping for a new to me car and keep going back and forth between a mid 90's pickup, an 2007-11 Lincoln Town Car, or a legit JDM ride with rear wheel drive.
