@anasevi9456

it's not because they are snubbing using English in the same way you will get with older French people.. With Japanese people who are adverse to speaking english is they feel not fully competent enough to speak clearly to english speakers no accustomed to strong accents. Out of all the language's I've studied: both Japanese and Russian were the ones I encountered that were ALOT harder to speak competently enough for native speakers to understand you, than for you to understand them.

That Watanabe 8 spokes on Camaro looks strikingly similar to those wheels on late 60s- early 70s SCCA Trans-am race cars. Someone can probably clarify who started it first, but I have seen wheels similar to those on Camaro, Mustang, Challenger, Cuda and even on AMC Javelin of the era. They do look really good and natural to the car.
@MrStacy1974
@MrStacy1974 Жыл бұрын
The Trans-am cars used Superlite wheels from Europe and I believe Watnabe wheels were developed in the same time period mimicking that style like a lot of other brands. Much like every American wheel company had a 5 spoke or sprintcar style wheel similar to the torqe thrust and Halibrand were released.

The British started the trend first with Minilites, copied from the Mini works race wheels. Then came Superlites, Watanabes, Panasports, then eventually Rota and Japan Racing who all make slight variations of the same design. Watanabe still use their original 30 year old cast to make these wheels today.

Apparently Larry Chen has never seen a '69-70 Boss 302, Z28, or Javelin Trans Am race car. They all used Minilites which is what the Watanabe wheel is a copy of. So now he proclaims the SCCA Trans Am style of cars is a "New JDM Style" for American cars, even though the Jun the builder specifically states his Camaro is done in "Trans Am" style🙄

Pandom absolutely should do a whole line for Old American Muscles. C3 Corvette, 80s Camaro, SN95 Mustang, New Edge Mustang, Fox Body, 70’ Mustang, Nova, Chevelle, Crown Vic/Town Car/Marauder. There’s so many to list that I think could absolutely fit the Japanese style and we have so many people building cars now that it would be nice to see different things, especially things that nobody thought would ever happen; like Japan x American Muscle.

I see a few American muscle cars around but I can't imagine going through what Jun does to acquire parts, etc. The idea of having a *very* cool Japanese car that is cheap to own, run, and can be fixed by anyone is very tempting.

Customization is a way of expressing not just yourself but also a form of art. I can understand those who stick with nothing but stock/OEM. Puristic people. They are happy with it as is. I am fine with both. As long as the user is happy and fulfilled with what they are doing, that is what matters. Respect to all those of every type. I currently have here in the US a 2004 VW Passat GL Wagon. 1.8T 5-Speed FWD but still. As I checked a few years ago, there are only 23 +/- left of my exact clone back then in the world according to VW. Shadow Blue with Metallic Flake paint. Interior grey with black anthricite and not sure what the ceiling color is. But I have left it stock the last couple of years, only changing the e-boost controller with J series for 11-12 lbs of boost b4 my X-wife gave it up. But now I'll be slowly customizing it. I am not overdoing it as I still want longevity with the AWM 1.8T to share with my VW clubs car shows as well as others. Currently have about 2,000watts RMS system overall in it. Got 3rd place this last year in Milwaukee's VolksFest. So much fun. Lots of stories from old and young. That's a good portion of why I do it. Lots of fun.

SICK!!!! I love the flambociousness of this guy. Having lived in Asia, when you find guys like this, it's refreshingly entertaining.

That Camaro is so well styled! I feel like an American customizer would've thrown on some modern, hideous 19 inch wheels without hesitation and ruined the car, but here we have an appropriate, respectful and badass wheel choice. The fitment is perfect. Bravo!

No 19" for Gen 2 Camaro. /50R15 is the biggest diameter tires that fit under the car without a narrowed axle/ladder bars/coilovers and tubs.

@Ducati Paso I believe you, I'm just tired of seeing 70s muscle cars with big modern wheels and skinny tires. Looks awful.

@@nvrndingsmmr They aren't done for appearance. Shorter sidewall = better handling, which means it needs a larger wheel diameter to keep the tire circumference large enough. It also needs room for larger, modern brakes. People don't just slap big wheels on their build without purpose. These cars are meant to drive good, not look good. The people who build them for aesthetics and don't care about the performance are called posers. Form follows function.

@MrChazBurger Yeah yeah yeah I know all about restomodding and that the bigger wheels are done to fit bigger brakes and modern tires. I didn't say I don't understand it, I just said it looks terrible and that remains true lol. You can try to make a 70's car look and perform like a modern one, or you can just respect the fact that it's a 70's car and let it be its perfect 70's self. Don't put big wheels on old cars. It looks awful.

@@nvrndingsmmr But its not perfect if it's a safety issue because you have poor handling and braking and less traction. Not everyone cares so much about aesthetics that they'd compromise safety and performance to "look 70s" That's what you don't get. I'm saying people who understand that and don't care because they'd rather look cool than drive well are posers or snobs. Vintage racing helmets looked cool too but how many people do you see running 1960s helmets instead of modern, safe ones?
