I had an 1198S. Sold it for a 1299S. Sold the 1299S for a 1098R which I’ll never sell. All incredible but nothing beats the character and rawness of the Testastretta and trellis frame bikes.

2005 Duc 999s is my fav daily ride. Trackwise I like the 1098s cause it does not have all the traction control stuff and still has the ducati twin with dry clutch sound. It's a harder bike to ride fast in the track, but the experience is 100% cause it's analog and puts the ownership to the rider and not the ECU.

The 899-1299 have a major aero advantage over most bikes and especially the older ones, pop the fairings off and look at all the duct work and airflow trickery. The aero on the newer Ducati makes it feel slower due to less wind buffeting.

I think the comparison between the 1199 and the 1098 would be more closer to the truth about the progress ducati have. Here you have the newer little ducati and the older big ducati and i don't think this shows the reality. Or the 848 959 comparison. Love you guys! Waiting for the Booooosa!

If you get an 848 try to get a 2012 or 2013 Corsa. They have some nice upgrades over the standard 848 (quick shift, T/C, ohlins shock, bigger brakes). Try to stay away from the earlier 848 that doesn't have the evo engine.

@@yzfr6i I got last month a 2008 version of the 848 in pearl white , Huraaaaaaaaay!!!!! It's in quite good condition, lots of carbon and the TERMI!!!!! sounds like a beast, scares everyone out of their beds when I go to work, WAKE UP!!! :D has 21.800 Km done so I am already thinking about 24k service, desmo, belts, all fluids, fork, chain, etc... I saw a standard 24k cost with the list of things done for this bike, its 840 $, honestly, its not that bad and I got the bike at a good price, under the market, this bike may be an investment in the long run if I take care of it :D I know you said to stay away but all the evos are way too expensive, they are going into the panigale territory and it makes no sense ...also a higher compression engine is a more stressed engine with a lower lifespan. For me, this standard one did the trick just fine.

Quick $.02. You joke a little about “L-twin” vs “V-twin.” It’s not a difference in how the engine is mounted in the bike. L represents the 90 degree engine, while V represents any twin less than 90 degrees- like Harley at 60ish degrees. I own lots of bikes. The older 899 is one. If you had tested a 959 with at least a slip-on/ UpMap, I think your opinion on power/ throttle response would change. That upgrade takes the bike to a different level of engagement. My 899 has just as much “soul” as my 999. You guys rock. For real.

You couldn't get the 1098 started?? That's not good news for us that want to win it? Maybe it should be serviced again. Fix It Again Tony!

Well, never ever i would buy a bike with electronic helpers. I ride my 748 since 2001 and its wonderfull in every way. New bikes and also cars are boring and unsexy. The 1098 is the last real Ducati.
